Congratulations to Win Murray, whose Men Without Helmets team in Las Vegas League 5 led the way in the NFBC last week with 3,438.5 points.
Big weeks from Matt Holliday (.417-2-9) and Adam Lind (.480) led the way offensively. Erik Bedard won twice and fanned 11, while Dan Haren had 12 strikeouts and Jonathan Broxton and LaTroy Hawkins combined for four saves to lead the pitching staff.

Win Murray Is Week 9 NFBC Winner
Separately, Win Murray and Ray Murphy have a long history of success in the world of fantasy baseball. Together, they’re hoping to topple the competition in the NFBC.
They delivered a mighty blow last week as their Men Without Helmets team in Las Vegas League 5 led the way in the NFBC with 3,438.5 points.
Murray and Murphy have been with the NFBC since its inception and this is their second year of partnering together in the Main Event.
“We decided to team up in the NFBC last year after each of our respective co-owners dropped the NFBC because of outside time commitments,” Murray said. “Ray brings a ton of credentials to the table as the Managing Editor of BaseballHQ.com while my only credibility comes from beating Ray in the same Scoresheet Baseball league we’ve been in since the mid-1990s.
“We've been getting good pitching all year long ,(but) what was different last week was that we got six wins in nine starts. Broxton's been the rock of our staff. He had a win, two saves, eight Ks in four scoreless innings. Just a typical week for him. The offense was balanced. Eight guys hit a home run and nobody hit more than two.”
Heading into the draft, Murray and Murphy targeted high strikeout pitchers. They also wanted plenty of power and were willing to sacrifice stolen bases in the process.
“We've been shocked to get 19 stolen bases combined from Albert Pujols and Mark Reynolds, which has been a huge boost but can't be seen as sustainable,” Murray said. “So we're actively trolling for stolen bases, going so far as to pick up Everth Cabrera (who?) this past week.
“We've been lucky with free agent pick-ups so far, getting Franklin, Hawkins, Nick Johnson, Varitek, Luke Scott, Doug Davis, and Niemann with our FAAB. Unfortunately we dropped Juan Pierre (our Round 25 pick) a week before Manny got suspended and cut J.A. Happ (our Rround 26 pick) shortly before he moved into the Phillies’ rotation, so it hasn't all been positive.”
The 39-year-old Murray lives in Western Springs, IL with his wife and two daughters. He is an equity analyst for a money management firm. The 37-year-old Murphy lives in Quincy, MA with his wife and works in IT at a local university.
