Fantasy Sports Magazine To Become High-Stakes Mag

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Oct 12, 2009 1:46 pm

The 21st straight season of Fantasy Sports Magazine will feature a completely new look and even a new focus. Fantasy Sports Magazine will be the first fantasy baseball magazine on newsstands this year and likely the only one featuring the high-stakes marketplace.

For a look at our upcoming cover, which will hit newsstands just before Christmas, go here:

http://www.fanballblogs.com/images/fshighstakes.jpg

Of course, the star of our upcoming cover outside of Mark Teixeira will be Lindy Hinkelman, who will be pictured in the upper right-hand corner holding a $241,300 NFBC check!! Kudos to Lindy and we believe once folks see what he accomplished and see all of our options to win money that we'll grow this event with new members.

Lindy will be featured just like all of our other past champions have been featured in Fantasy Sports Magazine. But we have 7 pages set aside to feature other NFBC winners who accomplished great things with us in 2010. We'll be contacting those folks soon to get them set up with professional color photos so that we can create these features in a very uniform way. We are going to ask you to get photos taken of yourselves by a pro photographer and we'll help out if needed. I think you're going to like this special NFBC Players Feature and it will be duplicated for NFFC Players in football and expanded in future years.

We've always said that we wanted to make our players stars to the rest of the fantasy baseball community and we'll do that with this 2010 Fantasy Sports magazine issue, honoring between a dozen and 20 NFBC members. Stay tuned, but I think you'll like these features and we'll grab some strategy tips from each of these winners that will be informative for the average fantasy player too.

We'll also host an NFBC Players 15-team Mock Draft and a 12-team Mock Draft possibly by NFBC Players or our staffers. This should be a lot of fun and will get us talking about baseball sooner than ever before.

Tom, myself and Ray Flowers are assigned to do player profiles with a deadline before Thanksgiving. We'll be diving into these shortly, so behave while we're underground for 4-5 weeks!!! :D

Our second issue of Fantasy Sports Magazine will be part of the Fanball Baseball Annual. We'll likely have a feature or two on the NFBC in there too. So stay tuned.

Oh, and the Fanball baseball editorial staff will be in Arizona at Ron Shandler's Arizona Fall League Symposium, so look us up there. Tom is joining the crew out there for the first time. Tom and I will be there on Wednesday to see a baseball game and then partaking in events Thursday through Saturday. We will GLADLY have some Corona's with anyone out there!!! :D Ryan will be there too, along with Mike Sheets and others.

Enjoy the cover and look for more details on this magazine soon. Thanks all.

This is obviously just a mock cover. We had to put in the NFBC logo to replace the NFFC logo, change the picture of Dave Gerczak to Lindy Hinkelman, the date from 2009 to 2010, etc. I just wanted to show you the first mock cover so that you can see the changes we are making with Fantasy Sports Magazine. We've had the same look and feel since 1989 and now we are going all high-gloss paper, all-color, and a new photo look. I'm excited about this and hopefully our long-time readers will be, too.

Damn, we have a lot of things cookin' in the Fanball/NFBC/NFFC merger. What could possibly come next? ;)

Greg.....you said this merger would bring your Contests to another level, but I don't think anyone could have expected how much so.

Agree with all the changes or not, I don't see how anyone can not appreciate what you and Fanball are trying to do here.

I'll tell you, when the season finally ended, I was burned out from baseball. It was a long tough season and I was in a fight in a lot of leagues. I was ready to forget about this sport for a few months.

Now, with all these new announcements, I'm already rejuvenated and can't wait until draft season.

Keep up the good work,

Glenn

Greg,

You are on quite a roll this week. The next thing you're gonna tell us is that this is the draft location for the 2nd weekend:

Ryan and I got a tour of that suite at the Palms in September. I believe the cost is $15,000 or $20,000 per night. Indoor and outdoor pool overlooking the city. It was just SICK!!! :D

We looked into this, but didn't settle on it. But that's what we were thinking about for the NFBC Diamond. Now you're with us. :D

Greg and I got to visit a lot of hotels on the LV strip and I'm not sure there are cooler rooms then the Palms.

Show Showers? Call me new to all of this, but I had no idea they existed.

Stripper poles in all the rooms.

Pools that start in the suite and go outside to the balcony.

Plasma's in the floor.

It was crazy.

Trust me -- I tried to convince Greg this was the place but they only had 15K square feet of conference center space so that wasn't going to work for what we have planned.

Man -- that place has some nice rooms!
