Welcome To The New NFBC Boards

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Dec 09, 2009 2:56 am

Okay, let's try this again!! :D

Yesterday we were able to load all of the missing posts into the NFBC General Discussion Forum, so I believe all of the posts have been restored here. If we are missing any topics in any of the other threads that you can't find, let me know and we'll do our best to restore those. But I think we have everything through Dec. 3rd when we shut the boards down.

We are still tweaking these boards and with any luck we'll fine-tune them this week to your expectations. I've noted some of the requests you folks made earlier this week and we'll see what we can do from the programming side to make these look and feel as familiar as they did before the transfer. Give us some time on all of this because we have some new additions coming shortly. For now, we just transferred everything from the old boards and have successfully done that.

I'll see what we can do about the color of the type, type size, the top banner ad and a few other features. Stay tuned and be patient with us.

Also, if you have the time to cruise through our web site please do that and if you see any typos or changes that should be made or inconsistencies with times of events, etc., please let us know. We'll update everything as we go.

Sorry if any posts from the last four days got eliminated yesterday but it happened when we recovered the lost threads. Sorry. We'll try to find them or just create similar links today.

Also, we will be redirecting the www.fantasybaseballchampionship.com URL to the nfbc.fanball.com URL shortly, bringing all of our traffic to the new web site. That hasn't happened yet, but hopefully it will over the next day or two. We're on it.

Thanks all for your patience. Again, we look for your feedback on everything involving the boards, the web site, the contests, the prizes and the fees. Thanks and let's have a great, great, great 2010 NFBC season.

Just a heads up that we are in the process of redirecting the www.fantasybaseballchampionship.com URL to the nfbc.fanball.com site now. If you have any hiccups when you go to the old site that is why. It will take a few hours for all of this to be completed, but soon all of our traffic will be redirected here. This will be our new home and the old site will disappear. It was fun while it lasted!! :D

We'll send out an email to everyone with our new URL soon, but both URLs will continue to work now and in the future. They will just point to this site going forward and we'll likely promote the new nfbc.fanball.com URL more than the previous one. Thanks all again for your patience.

Okay, I think we've got the look of the NFBC boards the way we had it before. We've adjusted some of the color schemes and moved up the white border closer to the top banner ad. We've also reduced the top banner ad in half. So we're getting there.

Thanks for the feedback all.

A much, much better look, Greg.

If you had a 'thumbs up' graemlin, the new message board would get one from me.

If you had a 'thumbs up' graemlin, the new message board would get one from me. Thanks Dan. We're looking at every link and every nook and cranny on the boards and the web site today and making the small changes as we go. NFBC veteran John Swol has also done some editing for us and we already made his recommended corrections already too. So there's a lot of folks helping us out and we're all in St. Louis now getting this done.

I think the boards look good now and it's time to get them revved up. If I can ever get home again and back to my snow covered office, I'll start up the signup thread and officially get this going.

Damn, 16 inches of snow back home. I almost don't want to go back yet. "Honey, call me when you're done shoveling the driveway!!!" :D She's not happy with me being away today, I can assure you of that.

Site looks great Greg. My habits will have to change because Fanball is blocked at work (heathens!), but I guess I will just have to be on at night and actually work during the day.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Sorry I was out of touch today, but it was a day of meetings in St. Louis before heading home tomorrow. I just sent you a thank you email for all your hard work. Thanks for helping us edit and improve the site. We've looked at every link and every page and every word so often we've missed some obvious errors. Your set of eyes is helpful right now. Thanks again.

Hey Greg....again, everything looks great....I made a couple suggestions on the Provisional board.....will copy & paste them here. Revise whatever you think is worth it....

One additional recommendation before I copy & paste would be correcting the Citifield draft dates....is it a full weekend or only Saturday main event? There's a discrepancy between the tab on the right side link and the dates shown once you hit the tab....

The previous recommendations are copied and pasted as follows, a couple that have already been corrected:

Congrats. Are you happy with our decision for New York???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a lifelong Mets fan....what do you think?

I'll just put it this way.....

Honestly Greg.....great job on all the draft sites.

I like the website a lot too.....

I've been playing around on it for awhile.

I really like the pictures and profiles of the future Hall of Fame candidates under the Hall of Fame tab....something for a lot of us to aspire to. Let me know when you want my closeup.....

A couple quick things I noticed.....

The message board is very similar to the former message board (a major plus), but with a new sleeker look.....I like it.

However, your IT techs will have to tweak the settings to get the date & time of postings back.

I would also have a forward or back tab for the special offers banner so someone could flick back & forth through them without having to wait for the default time setting.

Just in pure look & feel, the website is much cooler.....I'm a fan.

Glenn

A few more minor recommendations....

I would organize the draft sites on the right of the home page & on the upper tab by either date or region....right now its neither.

I think it would just make it a little clearer to a first time visitor to your website.

Your $125 WTA is actually a pay top 2.

I would also specify the WTA $125 satellite rather than the Pay Top 3 $125 satellite in the upper tab, because the WTA is the one that differs from your typical satellite. Might be a little confusing to a new visitor.

I would place the online championships records tab right under the NFBC records tab & place the career earnings leaders tab on the bottom. The current position of the earnings tab kinda lends one to believe that it doesn't include online championships earnings while it does.

Lastly & most importantly.....I would start the countdown clock.......

Just suggestions for minor tweaks Greg that I think might help a little ....

Overall, I again think this is another winner for the NFBC & Fanball.....great job.

Glenn
