2010 NFBC Signup List

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Dec 11, 2009 8:38 am

Congratulations to Lindy Hinkelman of Greencreek, Idaho, who won the $100,000 grand prize in the NFBC's main event in 2009. Lindy set a new NFBC record by winning a total of $241,300 as he is now our all-time Money Leader. Lindy not only won the NFBC main event last year but also the debut NFBC Online Championship. Wow, congrats Lindy.

There is no question that 2009 was our best year yet as we sold out the main event for the fifth straight year and gave away a record $1.1 million in prize money. We surpassed our goals across the board with the main event finishing with 390 teams and the NFBC Online Championship topping out at 600 teams.

But enough about last year. It's time to officially kick off our 2010 as we've taken waaaaaaaaaay too long to get this season started. We were busy redesigning our web site and getting the Registration page organized, but now it's time to get things rolling. The main event is exactly 100 days away, so let's get the signup page started.

We will open the signup page today (just click on the SIGN UP NOW link on any of the events) so that you can secure your spots in the NFBC as soon as possible. Remember, you can sign up for any NFBC league now and we won't hit your credit card until Feb. 15th. I'll add each new signup to this thread as they come in, so check here to see who is officially signed up and ready to compete in each of our events. Thanks all.

Here's the list to date with Lindy Hinkelman returning as our first signup to defend his NFBC main event title in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 27. Lindy is also returning for the NFBC Ultimate Auction League, the Live Double Play and the NFBC Auction Championship. Wow, thanks Champ and best of luck to you and everyone else in 2010:

I'm glad to report that we now have more than 100 signups for the NFBC main event. We started late for signups, so this is a good number. Now that the fantasy football season has concluded and we've handed out another $700,000+ in prizes over in the NFFC, we should start seeing more interest in baseball again. Open the doors, the boys are coming back over here soon. ;)

I'm glad to report that THREE of our overall grand champions will be drafting at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for the main event on Saturday, March 27th. Bobby Jurney, our 2008 champion, signed up over the weekend to compete at the Bellagio in the main event and two Double Plays.

Earlier last week, David DiDonato, our 2006 champion, signed up for the Bellagio, Diamond League and Double Play. And Lindy Hinkelman, our 2009 national champion, was our first signup for the Bellagio.

Wow, should be fun in every city, but the Bellagio is stacking up as a good one. I promise a group photo out there of our past champions and it's very possible Terry Haney will be out there, too. Could be a historical photo.

Artie, come join us in Sin City!!! :D

[/QUOTE]Yeah, it would be $1300 like last year, which means we'd still have $800 of this going to the Auction Championship pool and everyone in this league would be eligible for the $15,000 grand prize. We'd use the remaining $5,625 ($500 more per team = $7,500 x 75% = $5,625) to spruce up the league prizes.

Using the same percentage of payouts, the $1300 Mixed Auction Championship could have league prizes of:

1st: $6,700

2nd: $3,800

3rd: $1,500

And you'd still be eligible for the $15,000 overall grand prize. Events fees and co-managers fees would remain the same since the costs at Citi Field for food and beverage remain the same. Sound good?

Greg,

You have me (Roger Garvin) listed twice for the Bellagio on 3/27. I think it's because I signed up once, cancelled, and re-signed up for the back to back.

Greg,

RT and I both signed up for individual teams for the NYC 10am Auction via the website. I also bought a joint Main Event team through the website as well.

Can I assume that you will hold the 4pm kick off if that draft runs a few late? We are doing both

Thanks

Thanks Yeah, we'll make sure we have that early morning one done in time for you guys to get a break and be ready for the next one. That one should be done in 5 to 5.5 hours if we have a good auctioneer. I'll tell Tom to keep an eye on this and we'll have food and drink for you midway through the first auction and midway through the second auction. All is good on this.
