Hey folks, it's time for another daily chat. As always the floor is yours so whatever you'd like to talk about is fair game. So don't hesitate to bring it.

What is the chance that this league could be forced to fold either now or mid season because of the licencing issue with MLB?

0. Our event will go on and it will last the entire season. Nothing is going to derail it. That's a guarantee.

Any chance at uping 1st 2nd or 3rd place league prizes if the turnout goes through the roof?

I'm also interested in when the poker game will be.

Gambling rules...can't wait to place some wagers on baseball. Basketball is boring. Turn on the TV with 2 minutes to go in the game...it's the only part worth watching.

Who will be better in '05...Prior or Harden (injuries included).

Beltre or Glaus?

Sosa or Giambi?

I'll leave the prize structure for Greg should we exceed 300 teams. Let's get to 300 and see how things look from there.

Prior- Harden still has some learning ahead of him.

Beltre- Even if they're both healthy, Beltre could still beat him in all 5 cats.

At this point, got to say Sosa, but I'm interested to see what Giambi looks like at bat this spring.

The answer to the question above is that there is no chance of the NFBC folding this year. We are working with the MLB to get licensed just like everyone else and I think I understand both sides as well as anyone. We've had very good discussions so far. I hope that I can help bridge that gap and that everyone who wants a license this year will get one. That includes CDM. We'll see. Working together for the future is a bigger priority for me as we need to work together for years to come, just not in 2005.

All I can say is that the fear of being shut down should be eliminated. We're playing by the rules and trying to get this done.

~Lance Our goal is to get to 300 teams. Period. However, if we have uneven numbers in each city, we may go to 315 to even those out and use the 75% of total revenue to increase second and third place league money. By my calculations, that would allow me to increase second place in every league to $2,250 and third place to $900. That would be great news for everyone. But honestly, we're shooting for 300 now and seeing how the numbers play out, with the goal of having full 15-team leagues in each city. It worked in football and hopefully the numbers will fall perfectly in baseball.

Oops, I forgot to answer the other questions:

Saturday night for poker, hopefully. I'm still working on that in Las Vegas.

Prior, definitely.

Beltre. Glaus still scares me.

Neither. Okay, maybe Sammy.

I think I need to create a separate rules thread as I apologize for not doing that. I just assumed -- my fault -- that the setup format was set for everyone. I need to do the rules for mixed auction leagues and post that separately on the web site. Time to do that.

Each time I see the name sportsbettingman it reminds of a day not too long ago in which I was walking in a hallway in the Taj Mahal in AC, when I saw a 1-800-GAMBLER phone number. I walked over to the pay phone and dialed, the fella answered the phone and I told him that in the last day I had gambled on football, college hoops, hockey (what the heck is that), horse racing, blackjack, roulette, craps and poker, and that I had lost on all of them, WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG? A stunned voice said "um sir, we are not here for that, you need some help."

I'll tell you that phone call changed my life, since then I have never called 1-800-GAMBLER again.

Greg,

Glad to hear you're working with MLBMA and even helping with CDM getting licensed. We have built a great community of baseball fans over there that go well beyond the fantasy games. It would be great if they can keep it going, and I'm sure your input will help towards a resolution to that end.

Loved it Rotoexpert!

It would be fun to call them after a bad string of luck, and laugh at their attempt to help.

Greg...if I were you...I'd go small and friendly as far as setting up a game of no-limit hold'em. That way...you get to meet the players more...and we don't have to eat the vig.

Say $100 or so buy in with no rebuys. Just throwing it out there. The hassle involved with making it a big event with pro dealers and rented space would only pay off if you had like 5 or more tables full.

Let's see...I'll break out my crystal ball...

Prior is cursed...another 1/3 or more of the season on DL. Harden gets better...but overall numbers very close.

Beltre is rich now...no more contract year. (fat cat now...built in excuse for sub-par season...new team/park) Glaus beats him in HRs and RBI. Both hit below .300

Sosa and Giambi both have better seasons than most think they will.

I know that and I think others know that. We'll see how everything plays out, but life hasn't ended just yet. Everything will play out in the next month and everyone at the front lines will take their battle wounds home with them! :D

The Rio is not allowed to hold private games away from the casino floor, they would lose their gaming license. We could hire private dealers or deal it ourselves and if we use chips and no money is on the table we could get away with holding it in the ball room and there would be no rake.

I would like to see a $200 or $300 buy-in, no rebuys and pay 5 places. Also set up a couple $2-$4 or $4-$8 tables to keep the losers busy till the big game is over. We'd have to have a couple bankers and lots of chips but it would be doable.
