Slo Drafts, Satelites, and MDC

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Mon Jan 11, 2010 4:45 am

I get some pm's from guys who don't want to post on the Boards for one reason or another. Some don't have the time, some don't want to say the wrong thing, some with some bad experiences from other Boards. All understandable.

For these type of fellas/gals, I recommend getting in a slo draft league. Meeting other NFBC folks and the good banter alone, is worth the price of admission. Currently, I am in a slo draft and feel like I've made 10 new friends. Really, it is the perfect way for folks on the outside of the Message Boards to have a lot of fun and maybe make a little money.

For the rest of you, no, Greg or Ryan E did not ask me to be a shill for the NFBC/Fanball. The experience of the slo draft would get folks acclimated to the NFBC/NFBC players in a more intimate setting.

Greg, if you are reading this post, I have also received a lot of inquiries about folks being interested in early satelites. I don't know if that is possible with the changes at Mock Draft Central, but the interest is there.

One last thing, speaking of MDC...Fanball would be crazy not to hire Geoff from MDC to run or help with their site. Talk about a guy that can be relied on... I called Geoff, kind of a 'what the Hell' call since it was midnight EST with a slo draft pick for someone who was not close to a computer. Geoff was working and made the pick. To boot, I wasn't even surprised.

Amazing.

Hire that guy!
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Thanks Dan. I agree, the Slow Drafts are like a mini social networking site for the individual leagues. Folks can go in there at anytime during their three weeks of drafting and just chat about anything. It's a great place to ask questions about certain players, get different viewpoints on teams, etc. I think they are great and MDC.com does a great job with these.

You don't have to sell me on Geoff. He's the BEST. Who wouldn't want a guy as dedicated as we are on our team. Too bad he cheers for the Lions!! :D

The Slow Drafts will continue to be on MDC.com as I just talked to their new owners this morning and we thank them for continuing their support of the NFBC. We love these too.

Oh, and as far as offering early satellite leagues, I'll offer them whenever folks want them. If someone throws out an earlier date than the ones we currently have, I'll add it to the signup page. My concern has always been that if we don't fill those early offerings then folks get discouraged and don't sign up until they see more folks signed up. But I'm ready whenever you folks are.

Thanks Dan. I hear ya on all of this and you know my thoughts on the matter. We're working hard to make sure the online portion of our event continues to grow and is supported as well if not better than past years.
