Drafts I miss this year

Post by Spyhunter » Fri Jan 22, 2010 2:54 pm

Greg,

Here is what I miss this year:

1. the standing $1250 auction in nyc. I felt like we were getting to know each other. great group. . Not sure if we can pull something different like you indicated, haven't seen it officially announced

2. the $250 satellite auction!!! Just after you got stable Software last year too :(

3. I like the ocncept of the auction championship, but can't get behind the payouts... Seem very low for a 1 in 15 to win a 4x1 payout

Anyway, love where things in generally are going but just wanted to put out my wishlist
Really? I guess I missed it. I assume you mean the $1250 (not the $250)? I didn't see on the homepage. I will go look around on threads to see where it is

spyhunter These same questions just never get old:

1. Then join the $1300 league Gekko is organizing and reunite with your old foes.

2. There isn't online auction software available yet, so how I can I promote a league for one? We didn't have auction software last year, we used ESPN's. When they debut it we'll consider online auctions. I've said this many, many times.

3. The main event has 4:1 payout if you win the league. The Auction Championship is the same format as far as payouts. The private auction leagues were not growing and we now get a chance to name a national auction champion with a $15,000 grand prize. We hope this grows the same way the draft format has grown through the years and brings prominence to the auction format. I'd love to give a $50,000 Auction Championship grand prize someday.

I have a wishlist too, but you probably don't want to hear it. ;)

The statement that you (i.e. nfbc) used ESPN's online auction software last year has been repeated many times, both here and elsewhere.

You did not use ESPN's software last year; you used CBS's software, and, fwiw, it worked just fine. Both Spyhunter and I know this because we were in one of the leagues. I've even received notice from CBS that the league has been 'updated' for 2010.

If you are unable to offer the satellite auctions for some reason, fine. But it is frustrating to keep seeing and hearing espn's name mentioned.

I have my own idea about why the auction satellites aren't being offered and have said so over the phone. I'll spare you my conjecture here and just hope for their return.

We used ESPN for football and would likely return there for baseball. To use the CBS auction software last year we bought the league and then transferred the results over to STATS. It's easier to use the ESPN method if their baseball software is as good as their football software was.

Spare me conjecture??? Okay. Someone let me know when the ESPN auction software is up and running and we'll figure out the satellite auction plans. It's Jan. 23rd. Plenty of time to give you all your auction fix if that's what you need. We just need software to make it happen because as I've said many times, WE DON'T HAVE IT. Last year we added the auction satellites on the fly and took signups on the message boards and it's likely that's what we'll do again.

ESPN's auction software last year for football was SWEET!! if they have it going for baseball, i wonder if we can do a 45 rounder! i'd sign up for that. $250 entry fee. no FAAB.
Greg, thanks for setting up. With things crazy at work and home (my second, a baby boy born at 8:30am this Morning!) I haven't been as close on these boards. I had looked at the main site and not seen anything so I don't know if I deserved quite such a smack

Anyway, signed up and THANKS GEKKO for showing me the link!

Now, I have to go nap. My wife is going to kill me if she finds out instead of napping I am checking Fantasy BB!!!

Congrats Chris on the addition to the Throop family!!! Now that's a real win already in 2010!!

No smackdown intended. We're doing all we can to offer you folks everything you want while still sticking with our goals of crowning a national auction champion and growing the auction format. We'll grow it online too if we can.

Now take a nap and forget about the NFBC for a few weeks. We'll still be here when that healthy baby boy turns one month!! Enjoy the time with your expanded family.
