NFBC Mock Draft Software Is Now Live!!

Does the draft software check for duplicate team names?

I just spent an hour trying to enter a mock and could get no further than seeing the banner of picks. I tried many different things but never got any farther.

Now that it's over, I see that there were two teams with the same name and I'm wondering if that was the cause.

Nope, that doesn't seem to be it. I've just spent another 45 minutes trying to enter another draft without getting any farther.

That's it for me. I don't want to spend any more of my time on this, and I don't want to be entering mocks and not showing for them.

Although I've been pretty negative about most things so far. I'd have to say that the mock has been for the most part just fine.No problems at all yet. I wish I could explain the pressing need for it right now when other things need attention. Just need to stop the player list from jumping back to the beginning every time a pick is made. And we have to be able to move multi positional players around.

I think I have solved most of my issues. I have reinstalled Firefox and downloaded and installed the latest version of Flash Player. Still get the message about a slow script, but I clicked on 'no', and in a bit I was good to go.

Also, this time I got my ranking list, and had no issues with odd sorting going on.

Still wish I could resize the window more easily. To get the clock in view, I have to minimize the draft room window, bring up my normal browser window and reduce it via ctrl-, and then remaximize the draft room. Not that it can't be done, but the result is small font that is hard to see (older eyes ... :-þ).

We'll keep working on things to make the best software possible. Let me know if you encounter any other issues along the way.

Thanks, pal.

Geoff,

I just had a chance to mock again. Here are my thoughts. Many may be duplicate thoughts prior in this thread, but I was making a list as I drafted.

Pros:

List uploaded fine, bouncing back and forth between my list and the preset rankings was a huge plus. Love that feature. And just by clicking the "My Column". That is huge.

All and all draft went smoothly, and I'd definitely use it to draft in a pay league.

Cons:

When making the preset list, tough searching for pitchers. I ended up searching by the team just to get thru it, which worked fine. Coincidently, searching for pitchers in the draft itself, not a problem.

The Grid View after the draft is still messed up. The grid almost feels as if it were a straght draft. The even numbered rounds need to be mirrored or flipped.

Possible enhancements:

On my monitor I could see the stream of picks, player pool, chat, queue, mag ad, and roster. The mag ad really should go, I wouldn't mind seeing the clock there, as that is the only other thing that I would need in my screen instead of scrolling up.

I think KJ mention instead of Round 5, Pick 7, simply 5.07. I like that. I'd like 5.07, 82. The info is there b/c the overall pick shows up on the roster, but having it up top would be helpful in reference to people's big board.

Also I think Doughboys was really on to something with the Bat cracking the ball when it is your pick.

My other suggestion if possible, would be on the right side where your roster is is to have the ability to click and drag people to other eligible positions. i.e. if VMart is at 1B and I want to move him to catcher, simply click and drag. Not sure if the technology behind that would allow it, and it should only be available to your team. But that would be helpful. If not, the commish calls will be plentiful come late March, and even for mocking it would be helpful.

All and all, I feel much better today than I did last week.

A lot of what you mentioned is already being worked on, and I'll add the rest to the list.

Does this have the capability of uploading rankings from an excel file?

Unfortunately, that is very difficult to pull off from a programming perspective.

If everyone just loaded their own lists, with misspellings and anything else that could be different, the software wouldn't recognize the player IDs. So it's more than a programming issue, it's more about the correct player IDs.

That being said, it's possible that we could create something that allows you to put this in Excel and upload it using our correct spellings, etc. I think the guys were discussing this for ya down the road. Stay tuned.

Perhaps I missed this, but Geoff ... is there some way to determine ADP's based on these mocks?

With all of the testing and such going on, I can't imagine that it would be too valuable at this point.

The satellite league ADP data will be out on Monday, so look for that.
