The NFBC community deserves better and will get better, and everyone is committed to making sure that is the case. Geoff, I realize this isn't your baby, but I'm really dumbfounded why NFBC vets weren't beta testing this?? We would have picked up on all this shitt within 24 hours and kept all the current "bad press" from the nfbc masses.
beginning in November I was under the impression that NFBC vets would be the beta testers. Then about a week ago I saw a post by Greg saying the Fanball programmers were able to be the beta testers and we weren't needed!
While they may be good at programming, they don't know jack about baseball and I question how much they know about MDC and STATS. IF they did beta test this, they get a "D". [/QUOTE]What was rolled out yesterday isn't the final product, but we decided not to call it beta testing, either.
The purpose of the initial roll out was to: 1) find bugs, errors and things we've missed. So far, that's been successful, as I've been on the phone all day communicating what you guys have found. 2 get the NFBC community used to the software. There are still tweaks and corrections to be made, yes, but what you're seeing is for the most part what you're going to be getting.
I believe Dan used the phrase "tekkie glasses" earlier, and that is such an excellent way to describe things. During my time at MDC, I was always amazed at some of the problems folks ran into, because, well, I would've never considered doing some of the crazy things they did because I knew how everything worked. Getting this product in front of new sets of eyes -- who haven't been working on it for weeks -- was a huge step in the process of creating the best software possible, and it's already paid off.
I understand why everyone is on eggshells about things -- I really do. And I don't blame you. But as someone who has been around this entire process, I can honestly say that I don't think you have anything to worry about. Everyone associated with this from Ryan, Greg and Tom all the way down to lowly 'ol me are 100 percent committed to giving you guys the best NFBC ever ... and we look forward to proving ourselves to you.
