So many things have been found by players that escaped testers.

Can we PLEASE see the faab so that we can find the flaws there as well, as soon as possible?

In all seriousness, I thought the mock draft software was a good Version 1.0 -- improvements are sure to follow. The mistakes that people have found should be easily corrected.

This has been recommended ad nauseum, but it's worth restating here: a group of NFBC veterans should be utilized as beta testers before official rollouts or major changes. You would have no shortage of volunteers, myself included.

Rest assured that Greg, Tom, Ryan and I are working closely with the tech guys to make sure all of the issues are corrected.

Technology is tricky, but we're going to knock your socks off with the adjustments we make as we go -- I can guarantee that.

You would have no shortage of volunteers, myself included. This is pretty obvious, yet the offer has not been made by the NFBC. Almost all of the problems found with the Mock Draft software should have been found by an attentive tester. Allowing 15 veterans to test it would make the NFBC look better as well because most of the problems would have been identified by the beta group instead of after go-live.

I am more worried about the back end and FAAB now that I've seen this. In time the mock draft software will be great. With the FAAB we do not have the time to wait. It needs to be great in week 1. We are only 4 weeks away from Opening Day. If the FAAB is messsed up in the Main there will be a sh*tstorm on these boards. I hope we can avoid that.

Count me in as a beta tester too.

Geoffrey Stein,

I think we have waited long enough! Are you trying to tell me 3 weeks out eveything will be fixed? Come on the trust factor at this point is zero. Let the top guns in NFBC look at the FAAB program. If you don't your doomed! Your Mock Draft is a joke.

You guys just were/ARE beta testing. No need to formalize it. It must not have been close to the level it was at yesterday, or you would have been testing it earlier.

 I trust in the talented tech team that Fanball has, yes.

Would you care to share some of your criticisms of the mock drafting software? I'm going to be talking to the St. Louis office again in a few minutes and would love to give them Walla Walla's insight.

No problem. Make sure it measures up to MDC as a start. Than go from there. On the back end with FAAB start at STATS level then improve from there. So far you've done nothing.

John with all due respect getting on here and raising hell about something you probably hadnt even used aint accomplishing s***. Havent done a draft with it yet but crating a draft list is 10 times easier than MDC, unless you have some constructive critizism then all of you that want to raise hell to just raise hell need to be quiet.

John's way is a bit caustic, but he's not necessarily wrong in his assessments.

I poked around a bit and for all the hype, I'm not sure fanball came through. And with the biggest issue being FAAB, I think we all should be a bit nervous.

Geoff, I realize this isn't your baby, but I'm really dumbfounded why NFBC vets weren't beta testing this?? We would have picked up on all this shitt within 24 hours and kept all the current "bad press" from the nfbc masses.

beginning in November I was under the impression that NFBC vets would be the beta testers. Then about a week ago I saw a post by Greg saying the Fanball programmers were able to be the beta testers and we weren't needed!

While they may be good at programming, they don't know jack about baseball and I question how much they know about MDC and STATS. IF they did beta test this, they get a "D".
What was rolled out yesterday isn't the final product, but we decided not to call it beta testing, either.

The purpose of the initial roll out was to: 1) find bugs, errors and things we've missed. So far, that's been successful, as I've been on the phone all day communicating what you guys have found. 2 get the NFBC community used to the software. There are still tweaks and corrections to be made, yes, but what you're seeing is for the most part what you're going to be getting.

I believe Dan used the phrase "tekkie glasses" earlier, and that is such an excellent way to describe things. During my time at MDC, I was always amazed at some of the problems folks ran into, because, well, I would've never considered doing some of the crazy things they did because I knew how everything worked. Getting this product in front of new sets of eyes -- who haven't been working on it for weeks -- was a huge step in the process of creating the best software possible, and it's already paid off.

I understand why everyone is on eggshells about things -- I really do. And I don't blame you. But as someone who has been around this entire process, I can honestly say that I don't think you have anything to worry about. Everyone associated with this from Ryan, Greg and Tom all the way down to lowly 'ol me are 100 percent committed to giving you guys the best NFBC ever ... and we look forward to proving ourselves to you.
All it would have taken to smooth out this would have been to rename the 10+ page thread from "NFBC Mock Draft Software Is Now Live!! "...to "NFBC Mock Draft Software Is Now open for NFBC player beta testing!"

Geoff

We know you have confidence in the tekkies at Fanball.

But don't you think the final test, before hitting the public, should be a test amongst 15 veteran NFBC players?

Before that question is answered though, this one is more important-

Is the faab page ready to be tested, NOW?
