Now Presenting: Conditional Bid DEMO!!!

Post by Geoffrey Stein » Fri Mar 05, 2010 12:38 pm

And now the moment you've all been waiting for....

http://nfbc.fanball.com/demo/bids.php

A few notes:

-Bid lists will not save in the demo. It's not because it's broken or won't work -- it's to save space that having hundreds of users testing the software would take up.

-This is a semi-functional demo to demonstrate the replication of functionality from previous interfaces and the upgrades we have added.

Enjoy!

Off first glance, one thing I really like is the fact that you can have a higher bid price for your conditional bid in lieu of your original bid.

I'm assuming % owned and % started columns will be added when the full league versions come out?

Looks solid to me! Agree on whoever said it first I LOVE the fact you can put a higher bid on a conditional bid then your primary target or bid.

I love how with one click you can add conditional bids instantaneous rather than loading each player like STATS.

Quick tech issue....you can sort by all stats except R's & K's.

RSN....FYI, you can sort by 7 days, 14 days, etc. through the Stats drop down box.

There is a lot to like here.

If the rest is as good as this, it should be a comfortable ride on Sundays.

Thumbs up.

Liking it so far. Agree with CI/MI being added as sortable options. Messed around using 3B and it shows the 3B eligible 1Bs as well.

Without question, so far so good. I'm sure this trial demo will calm a lot of concerns.

The quality of the functionality aside, I have to admit that one of my biggest surprises about the page is how clean & uncomplicated it is. I'm surprised because it lacks any of the glitz that is so prevalent in the new website, league pages, & draft software. Though I really like the new slick look added to these other pages, I love that you went for simplicity in the FAAB design.

FAAB is a process that requires it be as easy & simple as possible and overdesign would only get in the way. Honestly, the foresight to realize that "less is more" when creating this page and knowing that here was the one place you needed to deviate from the design standard you've been following thus far impressed me.

No matter how hard I looked, there was not a magazine ad to be found anywhere.... ;) .

Functionality, ease of use, simplicity in design, & improvements on last year based on user recommendations....

Great job so far guys. Keep up the good work as always.

Glenn

Seems okay. Reserve final judgement till ive got ten bids in 8 different leagues and someone gets hurt or news comes out right before deadline and everything needs changing. One thing is do we need the edit and save buttons on every bid to make changes. One definately needs to go if not both.

Remember, this is just the demo and any questions you have should be posted here. We'll ask Cory and his team and then get you the answers and/or fine-tune what you've suggested.

I'm glad everyone has been able to see the groundwork for what we promised. I can now take Kevin Schiller and Shawn Childs out for a drink!! :D I'm glad this is off to a good start. But again, provide some more input and suggestions. We're making this better TOGETHER.

Is this all the categories we are going to be able to see? For example, will we see games started for pitchers?

1) Greatly prefer seeing all bids on the page rather than seeing just one group at a time.

2) Show more stats, at a bare minimum:

hitters - GMs, H, AB, Ks, BB, %owned

pitchers - APP, GS, IP, ER, BB, %owned

3) spacing is too wide between players, we have to scroll twice the distance as on STATS to see same # of players.

4) need the "track player" option.

5) show available free agent dollars at top of page.

6) why the massively wide column space in relation to the required column width? Looks stylish but harder to read.

7) If you are going to allow higher dollar bids on lower priority bids, you need to implement software rules that do not allow for laddered bidding.

example:

1 pujols 50

2 pujols 60

3 pujols 70

These are all great improvements I hope we see. We absolutely need to see all of our bid threads on the same page. Work your magic. Thanks

I read that conditional bids can be higher. Could you let me know who gets who under this scenario:

Team 1 bids

Pujols 40

Hanley 54

Braun 60

Team 2 bids

Hanley 50

Braun 61

Utley 33

Pujols 70

Team 3 bids

Braun 52

team 4 bid

Hanley 51

Team 5 bids

Pujols 41

Team 6 bids

Utley 35

While I am relieved this isn't a disaster, I am hardly impressed with what I see right now. I think KJ's above recommnedations are spot on, they all need to be implemented at a minimum. I know you guys will get it right.

[/QUOTE]when other owners bid on the same players, it doesn't matter how the bids are listed, it will always revert back to highest bid wins.

if however, a player isn't bid on, that is the only way this type of bidding is useful, for instance:

Owner 1 bids

Jon Lester $1

B.J. Upton $50

Owner 2 bids

Jason Heyward $3

Joe Nathan $200

Owner 1 gets Lester for $1 and Owner 2 gets Heywars for $3
