OAK.......I was there.....it was legit. Kenny and I stopped each time it was his pick because we never knew what was coming next.
Bottom line is this: Dude was obviously a newbie and went about things his own way. Looks like he enjoyed himself. I'm sure some people seeing this will want to whine and complain. But who are we to judge him? He paid his money and did nothing malicious. Sure, he probably paid a $1400 price.................but maybe he learns and comes back next year and the NFBC gains another loyal customer.

I'm not gonna whine or complain per se, but you gotta admit this creates a huge advantage to anyone in this league. It was essentially a 14 team league. Wouldn't be surprised at all if the overall emerges from it. Lemme guess, this was Jupinka's league in AC... as if he needs any help!

Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, it wasn't Jupinka's league. I wasn't in the league, but I had a couple people, okay fine, one guy, who thinks with 8 immediate and savvy drops, the team is quite savable.

If you focus on his 22 or so decent players , and forget what order they were picked in, the team is not THAT bad.

Wow.
That team is crazy, especially for a main event team...looks like $1400 down the drain, but I could be wrong...
In a satelite draft last week, I used a similar strategy as this drafter, namely go heavy on pitching early, and wound up with this roster. I know my team will probably take a "1" in average and steals also looks weak I have to sweep the pitching categories to have a chance here.. Any comments on this team?

Big advantage playing in a 14 team league as opposed to a 15 team league.

It is that guy's money he wants to throw away because that is the worst team I have ever seen in a league that a dollar is on the line.
To try to justify it unless you are joking and I am missing it is not exactly going to make you look very credible.

Do you guys think Grant Green would of made it to round 20 or is 19 the latest you need to secure him?

I was in no way justifying the picks- how could someone without a grey's sports almanac?
No the guy wasn't late. I know because I personally was the one guy late in AC, and made my first 6 by phone. You're mixing up stories. If someone is late and isn't contacting someone at the draft (which I was doing), they get the highest on the ADP, not Kershaw, Latos, and Valverde.

His money, his team. I'm all for it. I genuinely hope he has fun with it. That said, every fantasy publication I have ever seen from year to year is RELATIVELY similar with their analysis and mock drafts. Of course some are much better than others, but you'd be hard pressed to find one that advised anything close to this draft.
My question is how did this guy (?) stumble into the NFBC Main event? Who spends $1,400 to play fantasy baseball and apparently not do any sort of significant research beforehand? Did he do research and conclude everyone's dead wrong?
Theoretically, Kershaw could put up Halladay numbers this year justifying a first round pick. Given a full season of health, should Latos repeat without wearing down he could also be justified that early (work with me here). Soria is an elite closer, and Detroit is a good team. Young belongs where he was drafted. First 5 picks could be stretched to make sense. " WTF???" ensues.
It's too bad Lance isn't around. I'm inclined to believe that this drafter is a time traveler who has seen the future and came back and drafted all of the breakouts of 2011. Is there really any other explanation?
Greg, can we get a message board chat with this owner?
