I have to admit that I was amazed by the number of Slow Drafts we ran this year and it got me to thinking about a new format that would tie all of these slow drafts together into a national contest. It's something I haven't discussed yet with Ryan or our Fanball management team, but it would definitely give more exposure and prominence to this fast-growing segment. In fact, I want to figure it out quickly enough to implement it for football starting in May.
So let me ask: If we created a little extra prize pool for a national contest involving Slow Drafts, would that interest you? Should we take some of the league prize and put it towards an overall grand prize? Do we mix in the $325 Slow Drafts with the $125 Slow Drafts, just taking the same dollar amount from both to make things equal? Or do we increase each league by let's say $25 per team and use that money to create the national grand prize and overall prize pool, while keeping the current league prizes intact? Then we'd have $150 and $350 Slow Drafts. Would that work?
This year we had 29 Slow Draft Leagues. Pretty amazing and far more than I expected. That's 435 teams that competed in a Slow Draft this year. If we took $25 from each team, we'd have $10,875 in revenue and if we paid out 80 percent we would have had $8,700 in overall prize money this year. Obviously I'd have to go out on a limb and guarantee the grand prize based on the number of leagues I'd expect, but this could work out pretty good.
Just a thought and something I thought we'd throw out on the boards today with the traffic so high. Let me know what you think and we can plan accordingly. Thanks all.
