Duplicate Players -- in the same league???

Post by King of Queens » Sat Apr 03, 2010 1:57 am

Someone has already pointed to the problem of two Justin Verlanders in the $1300 NY Auction. I have also found at least two other mistakes:

1) Las Vegas League 8, Weekend 2: Chris B. Young OF appears on both Vliggalangelo and The Rapid Amigos. Chris R. Young SP is not on any roster

2) New York League 1, Weekend 2: Carlos Ruiz appears on both Baseball HQ and Heads-Up. Heads-Up took another player, not sure whom.

While these are simple fixes, in my mind the bigger question is: how could the same player be listed twice? When loading rosters, shouldn't the second Verlander, Young or Ruiz be listed as "Unavailable"?

 These are data entry errors that need to be corrected. It's not too tough to type in the wrong number and even having that number duplicated within the same league. We're typing in 5533 not Verlander.

If you see any roster errors, forward them to [email protected]. Data entry errors have happened every year and we correct them before the season starts. This year, however, we have FAAB running a week earlier than in past years and thus we need to find all of these errors quickly before folks think they can bid on players. If anyone gets a player in FAAB who was already drafted and was in the free agent pool by mistake, that winning bid will not be allowed. I know it's common sense, but it needs to be stated here.

I'll copy your notes above to Geoff and get these corrected, but in the future just email Geoff with them and cc me if you'd like. Thanks for doing the work.

No problem, Greg -- I don't mean to make your job any more difficult than it already is! I'll e-mail Geoff for any other mistakes I find.

I was more curious how the data-entry system would allow for mutliple entries of the same player within a single league. I guess that's just how the system works...
