This is my first year in the NFBC, but my 17th year of fantasy baseball. My first year we used a self written Lotus program and hand loaded the stats. For obvious reasons, weekly transactions were required. Over time we began using a "for fee" web site which eventually allowed daily transactions. We have now switched to a "for free" site that allows daily transactions. The regression to weekly (except for the limited Friday transactions) transactions has eliminated much of the strategy from the game, i.e., playing match ups, etc. And keeping a DL player active with an eligible sub on the bench really sucks. Why hasn't Fanball joined the rest of the sites in this "silly little game" and gone to daily transactions?

The difference between weekly and daily transactions is large enough that I basically consider them different contests, rather than weekly being a dumbed down version of fantasy baseball as you suggest.

I first thought the same thing when I joined here-but weekly transaction leagues are harder. It avoids grinders from wining strictly based on how many ABs they can switch in. just my two cents.

We pay to compete with the best players in the world, not the most active grinders in the world. Thats what the NFBC is all about.
Its the best game in the world, no matter what some of the "bullet"in board guys say.

This is a mute point. Greg has already said there will never be daily transactions here. I can certainly understand why you would think people would want that. The overall consensus in the past has been very much towards weekly moves with some flexibility though.
As Dub said (btw Dub is growing on me ) it is just a different type of strategy.
I would argue that weekly moves is more advanced. Welcome to the NFBC and good luck this season. I think you will soon grow to like weekly moves I know I have...

This might be a little off topic but i think the best solution would be to have the ability to activate or disable players as the moves happen in MLB. Everyone knows when their respective players are dl'd or activated so I think this would be an easy option. To me its better and more fair than having the ability to change your hitting line up on a Friday for the weekend.

usually there are games-played and innings cap for daily leagues...
this is my first nfbc league and i've always done daily leagues...definitely a learning experience to switch
i find i have to do more strategizing and decisions to bench/start guys become that much harder...

I think most will agree that our players also have regular day jobs and families to take care of and the masses don't want a contest that rewards those who are in front of their computers at all times. More is not always better for all things.
That being said, there are those who have asked if I'd set up a satellite league someday with daily transactions and I don't think that is out of the question. Certainly not now as we have to make sure our back-end can do everything we need for the contests we have in place, but if demand is there for future growth in any area of the market I'd be a fool not to look into it. The software currently would allow these moves if we wanted it.
So, yes, I believe there is a customer base that would be interested in this and maybe one day the NFBC will offer that. But again, it would be for pay satellite leagues, not the main event.

I would cut my leagues from 10 to 0 with daily lineups. Either that or I'd have to quit my day job.

one good thing about weekly leagues..it enables you to play in multiple leagues. or is that a bad thing.
daily changes for multiple league owners could be like FAAB Sunday, only daily.

I agree that daily leagues are too time consuming.

I agree with whipsaw and wizardbw that daily vs. weekly is a different game. Similarly, a draft vs.an auction is a different game and online vs. live is a different game. NFBC offers online and live options and draft vs. auction options, why not a daily moves option? For me, a live auction followed by daily transactions is the ultimate test, but I certainly can see why others might prefer an online draft with moves every Monday. Different strokes ... By the way, I'm not sure what a "grinder" is or why it is a bad thing, but it seems to me that somebody making his 442nd post is doing a bit of grinding too.

N Im sorry if you think I was insulting you- I was not trying to nor do I think your example above is a good one. I think its comparing apples and oranges. A draft takes a few hours while a season takes 6 months.
I like daily translational leagues and play in them because as you pointed out , I (with a capital i) am a grinder. I am a target customer if the NFBC offers one. I would try it out.
I simply recognize that a weekly transactional league is more difficult. You have a weeks worth of decision and prognostications that have to me made a week in advance (now three days).
Its just my opinion. You can keep yours.
btw, I have never drafted in an auction. Its sounds like fun, but out of my comfort zone.

I'll provide an example:
On Sunday I was faced with the decision: do I start Brian Fuentes? I am falling behind in saves. I read that he may might be activated that Wednesday. I don't want to go three closer because then you start to chase K's. So do I go Morales who blew his last 2 or Fuentes, the guy I drafted at a premium?
If I choose BF, I am spotting FM two games and gambling that BF is activated and gets a chance on Wed or Thurs.
On the plus side, if they don't activate BF, I can always sub in FM or sub in Lilly who is on my bench. I chose BF and he blew a save, while FM was perfect today
If it were a daily transactional league I could have played it all by ear and watched what developed taking much less risk- I would have gotten my cake and ate it.
In other words, its easy to sit a pitcher in a questionable match up after another on your team gives you a 10 K performance. You can watch it as it unfolds- you don't have that luxury in a weekly league
