Where is Jaso?

The backup backup C for the Rays is not on the FA list and has been playing for some time for the Rays. I wonder when he'll be added

I thought minor leaguers are put on the FA list when called up. This week's callups Ike D and Smoak are there...why not Jaso? Don't understand

I'll look into this situation, but no player will be added today who isn't already in the player pool.

Crazy. I'm not sure what happened here.

Some people asked me earlier about Eric Young Jr., but he wasn't officially added to the Rockies' roster as of this morning. He should be added next week it looks like.

I found him but he's under U not C. Can eligibility be changed before the deadline?

The odd thing about Eric Young Jr. is he's available in some of the contests (satellites & Auction Championship) and not in others (Main Event & Double Play).

I also noticed when all the Live Event pickups were posted, someone was able to pick up Kam Mickolio last week....which is kind of surprising considering all the hubbub last week about him (though as Shawn pointed out, some of those hoping for him last week are probably happy he was unavailable at this point).

There's no consistency to whose eligible to be picked up and when. To be honest, that's a big problem that needs to be addressed right away.

i looked briefly at his minor league games played. it looks like he played a lot of catcher. if he is supposed to be a catcher according to the rules, but is only listed as Util, what position is he able to play this week? need to know before deadline tonight.

Fanball will determine that one eligible position before Draft Day and that will determine that player's status for 2010 once he is called up to the majors. Those players who only pinch-hit or DH in the minors only will be UT-eligible.

The above was copied from the league rules. I'm no attorney, but the way I read this is Jaso should be eligible to catch right away.

Glenn ya, but if he's not listed in the catcher tab, that could be a tough one to explain to people. how about this, if anyone picks him up as a Util and then wants him to have catcher eligibility, they are cheaters!!

The curious case of John Jaso

Listed as utility even though never played anything but catcher in the minors and majors

However when you actually bid on him, he has a C next to his name.

I put a bid and pray it works

[/QUOTE]Glenn, I don't have your examples in front of me, but EYJ was drafted in several live events and online events and could have been cut and then available in those leagues. If you see otherwise, let me know via email. But it certainly wasn't uncommon for some folks to draft EYJ and then cut him before this week, thus being available to be picked up this week.

Whether a mistake or not, Jaso should not be eligible at C until next week. His position eligibility has been changed after the Sunday morning deadline. Those who searched for a C early this morning, like me, did not find him. Changing him sometime Sunday afternoon is unacceptable.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Thank you and have a nice day. Danny, he wasn't added to the free agent pool after 7 am ET. He was listed under all players and most definitely NFBC owners were confused on his eligibility. He is catcher eligible as per our rules and everyone can pick him up as C eligible.

Greg, He has a valid point. If people looked for him this morning under catcher and didn't see him

it's not thier fault. Remember we all have lifes??

So you can't expect someone to check these boards 24 hours a day to figure out they missed him. You put in a bid by deadline for FA players being added on than they change the position. I'd say pull him til next week. Something happened the first year in the AL auction. Remember how you fixed it?? :D

So, when searching for a free agent I must:

1) check under C

2) check under U

3) find him under U

4) check games played at a position

5) notice he has less than 10 in the majors this year

6) Find his minor league games played per position

7) Return to NFBC and bid on him

Sounds easy enough.

I have never even heard of this guy so no big deal to me. Just want to be consistent.
