Time to replace "Hells Bells" with "Candle in the Wind".

Just think if you went into that Mil/Pit series with Hoffman and Dotel as your closers. :( Enough to make you want to punt saves next year.

I only had Hoffman.

Hoffman is six saves away from 600. The Brewers have an enormous sign of Trevor Hoffman in left center field that displays the countdown to 600. The Brewers want the attention that comes with the milestone. I could be wrong but, I don't think they make a move until he gets it.

Hoffman was totally lit-up last night. I'd say the bigger issue than # 600 for Hoffman is that Ken Macha is an idiot. "Sticking with his guy".

Some of these managers just make you scratch your head.

Some of these managers just make you scratch your head. It looks like he will be back in a save situation again today. One run lead possibly heading into the ninth. Let's see how it works out.

Besides being a LHP, Parra is probably too out of the box for Macha. Jeff Erickson and Chris Liss were bandying this idea about during their Sirius-XM show today (gratuitous plug for a couple of good guys).

[/QUOTE]If you've watched this team at all this year, you'd come to the conclusion that NOBODY can close for this team. They are a pathetic 9-12 and could easily have five more wins with an eighth and ninth inning reliever. Hawkins is BRUTAL. Coffey has struggled in the seventh and Hoffman has given up six home runs already after giving up two all of last year. Parra is probably a better hitter than pitcher, which tells you enough about him.

They obviously have to ride Hoffman for good or bad because the other options are terrible. But Hoffman has been terrible too. Four blown saves and some really bad ones at that. Unreal.

And if Edmonds runs over Doumit in the 13th they still win that game today. Instead, he ***** foots around him and gets thrown out at the plate as the winning run. What a frustrating team to watch.
