Mike Aviles and Matt Thornton. I should have gone a few dollars more on Aviles; but the Rotoworld blurb on Thornton put him way over my bid.

I bid 70 to 100 on Aviles in every nfbc league he was aviable and hit everytime.I actually bid more on Aviles than Starlin Castro.I think a much better buy for a guy with 20 homer 300 bavg power.

I picked him up in the other high stakes league last week for a 1 in two of the main events.

We will see.

The White Sox closer situation - here is my pure speculation. The Sox LOVE Sergio Santos, and man is this guy's stuff good. He pitches only 1 inning at a time. I could see the Sox keeping Thornton in an 8th inning role/lefty specialist and moving Santos to closer.

The risk - he's still learning to pitch. He is a converted infielder only 2 years ago.

Totally agree about Aviles vs Castro. The winning bid for Castro was $203, while Aviles only went for $37.
Trying to predict Ozzie Guillen is impossible. With that said IMO Matt Thornton is one of the 10 best relievers in all of baseball.
Gordan Aviles can flat out hit dont forget his 325 bavg in 2008 with 418 atbats and 10 homers.

He will also have dual position within a week.

If he stays in the lineup he will do more than Starlin and im betting on it and already have his 2 homeruns in the books this week in 2 main events and 2 american league auctions. BANG
according to baseball reference aviles has 12hr in 559 at bats. his avg is a nice .295, but i wonder if he can continue to support it given his 22/86 BB/K ratio. will he get fulltime playing time? his high for hr was 17 while playing in the PCL as a 26 year old.

i'm sure he will have some value if he gets full playing time, however the #'s say it wil be a lot less value than some people think. hey, i've been wrong b4, and i'm sure i'll be wrong again. good luck eddie

Ozzie has disliked Jenks for about 2 1/2 years running now.

We will see. that's amusing. i'd like to revisit this in a few months. the 29 year old journeyman or the 19 year old wunderkind? tough call. i doubt either hits 20 or even 15, but in the end, i'll bet castro has the better numbers.
