IDEA: NFBC $1000.00 SLOW DRAFT IN 2011

Post by Winston's Empire » Fri Oct 01, 2010 8:55 am

Hello All,

Well the baseball season is almost over, but its been an AWESOME year for fantasy honks like me.

I did my first SLOW DRAFT LEAGUE this year and really loved it. I played in the online $325 SLOW DRAFT LEAGUE #3 and think its the greatest format in the world. Starting so early in the year with the draft was great, the 12 hour limit for the picks is great (great draft prep time), and the guys were all great in the league. I think there should be a chat room available in the live scoring room for everyone to give each other a hard time etc.. but still great.

My idea is this same SLOW DRAFT format in $1,000.00 entry with a $4,000.00 payout to the Top 3 teams. I would be willing to be the first guy signed up.

I love NFBC, love the online draft, love the format of the 45 rounds, no trades, no pickups etc. etc. etc..... just want it higher dollar.

Please let me know your thoughts. Greg Ambrosius suggested I start a NFBC discustion on it so here we go!

Thanks a lot to Greg and everybody else at NFBC for running such a great fantasy game for us all.

Sincerely,

Max

I would be interested if the payout is structured similar to the pay top 3 slow drafts instead of 3rd getting the same payout as 1st.

I definitely would like to see some higher buyin slow DC's. I don't plan on joining the main events next year because with the Friday lineup changes and FAAB sundays it gets too time consuming for me and if you don't have unlimited time like others you are at a severe disadvantage.

Just my rant to go back to the original ROTO rules with ONCE weekly hitter and pitcher moves. And if the contest doesn't go back to once weekly moves I hope I can get my high stakes fix with higher limit DC's.

Maybe a $3000 for 3rd, $4000 for 2nd and $5000 for 1st would work. 45 players is a good number, but 50 could work. I thing if you have 45 it makes each pick more thought out and strategic though, because they all count that much more. I love the NO pick ups. I also don't have the time like others but feel like the SLOW draft style etc.. Gives me time to field a great team for the entire year. I did the Classic in 09', but this format is for me. Just want it a little higher $.

They could call the league SLOW GOLD! It's really a great format and I think the $1000.00 version if there is just one league will sell out very fast!

Any more interest in a $1000 Slow Draft League?

Keep the foot on the pedal Winston, that's all good. I'm sure it will sell but it is a tad early even for the hardcore because of the stakes. I can see this going off sometime in January when there's more site foot-traffic and Fanball has the draft room up and running.

I would be interested by the way.

Thanks and I surely will! This format is totally unique and I believe will be even better in a higher dollar amount. My original idea was to have an even winnings pay structure, but I now see guys would like it better if it was more top down like the $1000 Satellite league or something. The league could also qualify for the overall Slow Draft Championship they are floating out there for 2011 and that is also a great idea.

I really hope that Greg and the guys at NFBC will try it and I have already told them I am willing to be the first guy signed up.

Anyways I wish I would have found NFBC before 2009, but thats just the way it works. I am only 31 now, so hopefully I have another 60 - 70 years to grow with them!

I hope other guys continue to chime in on this idea! Thanks again.

be sure to keep the thread bumped up and interest will come eventually. i like the idea of 50 rounds also.

Thanks Bill! I also think Mid February would be a good time to start this draft because of the $ amount involved and its awesome draft prep for the other leagues. I am planning on doing a $1000 Satellite League or the NFBC Super so I the timing would be perfect. 50 rounds would be great, but if its going to be part of the overall slow draft championship it would most likely have to have the same amount of rounds as all the other slow drafts. I am getting excited that there are other people who want to see the $1000 SLOW DRAFT League happen!

Keep it going guys. Max Ogden - WINSTON'S EMPIRE

I'd probably be interested in something like this as well, especially if it's part of the Overall Slow Draft Championships.

Nice idea.

I agree with some earlier posts in this thread about the time it takes now to run a Main Event team. With the Friday changes, the FA bids, it's very time consuming, and I found it starting to become an inconvenience as the summer moved on.

That said, one of the highlights of the season for me is the live drafts. For all of us who have drafted live, you know there's nothing like it.....

...Any chance we can get a live DC league?

It appears you would qualify for the "Jersey Boys" League. This would be a live, local draft perhaps...

Heck ya Guys! Hopefully NFBC will have this as one of the SLOW DRAFT league options on November 1st when they roll out the 2011 season! If so, we can all start getting signed up and let the good times roll! Thanks for all the support for this idea, its fun to watch others get excited about it too!
