no complaints with my hitting although i could use a few more steals. have l.matos on reserve who i can squeeze in and hopefully will have a healthy season. could of used another top starter, a little short there. need my sleeper starters to come through to have a chance. took lyon and macdougal for reserve in case aquino and affeldt arent healthy. dont like my team as much as i did leaving the draft last year. with my projected stats this team would of finished 35th overall last year. decent! hopefully with pickups i can improve. what are the odds of winning this again anyway lol wish everyone luck and a great season. artie triple a Artie, I think we have the edge on you this year!!

a)I only had a 30% cance on A.Ramirez in 3rd

b)ditto on H.Matsui in 4th

c)I had 0% chance on J.Lopez in 5th. Moved closers to 6/7 from 5/6

d) Buehrle in 11 and R.Lopez in 17 were steals.

e) had to take Erstad for 15 sb's. That could haunt me later. John,

I rate your team out at 55th overall, 81% percentile. Pitching scores 53% of total.

Very high BA, decent r/rbi prodcn, mediocre hr/sb. Very good ERA and WHIP with only Benson in the 4.00s, above avg in both W and SV but hurt by K totals.

Take a look at my roster if you get a chance. Thanks.
Interesting.... of course, I have myself a tad higher....Stairs, Nix, D.Bell backups could help. Kotchman is looking like he'll be DH against righties and he has like 7 clutch, late RBI hits this spring. I think e's going to get 425 ab. I'll find another starter or two on FA wire and go with 7 starters most weeks to extra K's.

I just wasn't going to take those ERA/ratio killers at the end of the draft others were taking.

8.3 for SB. i have myself projected at 142. using most other publications sb projections i'm around 155. that's got to be at least 12 pts. 5.5 for runs look a little light. thanks for the numbers.
Thx, John,

I hope to find a 5th and 6th SP on the waiver wire if necessary. Chen had a nice late season run and has continued this Spring, if he keeps going he easily beats all projections, if not I dump him. Loiaza similar story in that the potential is there, I'll give him half-dozen starts to see how he looks.

Burrell and Jones the risk is definitely BA, but I have them bouncing back to hit around .280, which helps explain why I have Burrell on all 3 of my teams.

Batting

Pitching

12.1 2.4 12.0 6.7 8.2 41

But you know what, your draft last year wasn't much different and you won. Just goes to show us all this is just half the battle.

FYI -

Statistically, draft value last year showed 89% correlation to overall standings.

The last 11% - team management and waiver wire mgt - equals +/- 33 spots in the overall standings.

So ... a 3rd place team when drafted can be managed up a league winner or down to 5th place

So technically, 50-66% have a chance.

Hi MGBMarty

I was also in NY #5, Pick 6

I like your team and I think we both have a legit shot at the league title. It comes down to preferences, because you have a few players I don't care for like Griffey and Burrell but that does not mean they can't perform well, I just believe they won't.

Your top 4 starting pitchers are highly talented but all are risky and I would have to expect atleast one of them to be a huge disappointed due to injuries. Either keeping them off the field or hampering their performance on it. Your bottom 4 starters are crapshoots but the champ won last year with 4 solid guys up front and a few fill ins so it can be done. You are likely going to be down in saves because of Robinsons managing in Washington and Wickman's probability of holding onto his job, but atleast you have backups.

Overall, I feel your entire draft hinges on one player: Soriano. If he does not steal bases for you, as in '04, then your going to be hurtin. Believe me, I hope he works out for you but I myself was not willing to take the chance at #6. The 50 steals from Podsednik won't be enough to carry you if Soriano gets 15.

Here is my squad for you to pick apart

Hope to get your feedback soon and Best of Luck
UFS, I got Figgins in my league so I'm a little biased, but .238? Come on. He was up in 2003 for 240 AB's and hit .296 w/ 16% k rate. Had 577 ab's last year and hit .296 with 16% k rate. Looks pretty consistent to me. I think if P's were going to figure him out, they would have done it last year. Even if he drops to .270 I'll still take the 40 sb's and 100 runs.

Geesh, so much concern here. Truthfully this is alot of fun but don't take too much out of the projections.

This thing will be won with the 2005 versions of last years Beltre, Mora, D. Ortiz, Peavy, Pavano, Olly Perez, J. Wright, Lidge, Nathan, Loretta, etc.

It will not be won with 2005 versions of last years Prior, Garciaparra, Halladay, Giambi, Piazza, Beckett, Prest. Wilson, L. Gonzalez, etc.

As long as you have a solid base set, you have a good chance at winning this thing.

Last year the pitchers I drafted were: Gagne, B. Wagner, D. Riske (ouch), C. Zambrano, Byun Kim (ouch), Ryan Franklin (are you kidding me), Edwin Jax (ouch), Jake Peavy (stud), Suppan, and Brian Lawrence. ---Not real impressive by any standards.

I ended the season in 2nd overall and with the #1 pitching staff overall.

The game has just begun my friends. ;)
