A Piece of Poop

One day, a long time ago, I was coming home from school. I took a shortcut through a field that saved me five minutes. It was there that I stepped on a piece of poop.



For most, this would be bad news. But, this was no ordinary piece of poop. This piece of poop, magically transformed to a playing buddy. We'd play sports and go to school, and pal around.



He loved sports. He was better at it then me and my buddies. In high school, he was one of the best athletes anybody had ever seen. He wanted to go to Notre Dame. But Notre Dame did not accept poops.



He settled for Florida State, but was even too much of a poop for them. He settled on a lesser school.



Excelling at the lesser school, he made a name for himself in football. NFL scouts came from miles away to watch the amazing talent. It didn't matter to them that he was a poop.



He signed into the NFL and showcased his talents. Teammates and opponents were enthralled on what he could do on a field.

But after awhile, the poop would begin to stink and his own teammates and friends did not want to play with him any more.



The pattern would persist. He would play for one team, show his talents, then the stink would start to show through and he would have to move on and play for another team.



Randy Moss, starts over again next Sunday. With another new team. He'll perform well there too. For awhile. Until they discover, like others have, that no matter how he looks at first, in the end, he is still just a piece of poop.



I think back to that day long ago, when I stepped on that piece of poop. Was it a good thing or bad thing?

He could do wonderful things on a football field, but on the other hand, we have enough poop in this world.

Next time, I hope I can scrape it off and move on, like other NFL teams have done.
