I like the idea of a 15-team Online Championship as it would serve multiple purposes.

It would provide another overall contest for those who prefer a smaller buy-in.

It would create a smaller risk conduit to the Main Event for new players.

It would provide another avenue for draft prep for the Mains, Supers, & Ultimates that the 12-team Online Championship does not truly provide.

That said, there is little doubt this would somewhat canabalize both the 12-team Championship and satellites. However, I'm not sure a smaller 12-team Championship isn't a better thing. Now entering my 3rd year playing these High Stakes Overall Contests, I'm starting to shy away from those contests with a huge number of entries and a lottery feel. I much prefer those contests with limited entries and a more realistic shot at the prizes.

I also think if the 15-teamer is offered, a live option should be provided. There would be no better trial run for new players than a live low cost 15-teamer. They'd be hooked for life.

I like the idea and agree with the points Glenn makes.

The lower price point would likely entice me every year as would a live option for these leagues. I personally see no problem with taking from the pool of Sat players a little bit, since you are giving them a better training ground for the ultimate proving ground. Also - the overall component would lower the percentage of All-RP players, something that has taken over the Sat leagues.

Glenn It would give those a shot at an overall contest who have lost their co-manager for this year! (like me).

Not sure if it's still possible to pull off this year but I would also love for the 15-team OC to offer live drafts too.

Good idea. I think this is a good springboard to getting more people interested in the Main Event. It's possible the Main's price entry is too much for starters just getting the hang of a 15tm league. This is a great initial step especially if you pepper the prize level with free entries to the next season's Main. I would be interested in 15 team format.

Agree with Quahog that this would be great way for those new to NFBC to prepare for Main Event without the Main Event fee.

Since there is the double play live for the 12-team league OC, how about a double play live for the 15-team OC too?

I really don't want the 12-team Online Championship to lose momentum for this year and we are still a week away from legally being able to announce our plans. I'm not saying no to this idea, but I also don't want to reduce the 12-team Online Championship prizes at this stage. If everything had been in place sooner, I think this dual Online Championship concept would be a given.

Give me some more time to consider, but I'm leaning towards tabling this idea for one more year. The feedback has been solid and I really believe we have enough demand for two different OC formats, but at this late stage it might be counterproductive to do both. Sorry, but the feedback has been helpful for 2012 and beyond.

Some more feedback: Yes, I am interested in a 15-team online championship this year if you can offer some Saturday draft dates. Otherwise difficult to participate with a standard work week and a 6-hour time difference! Thanks for considering it!
