Hot Tub League Draft Tonight

Post by Jim Christie » Mon Mar 07, 2011 3:23 am

I participated in a $250 Satellite last night and it took 5 1/2 hours to complete. It was painful; good thing is started at 5:00PM EST.

I am hoping we don't take 5 1/2 hours tonight as the draft begins at 8:00PM EST and I have to get up at 5:00AM (OKAY, now crying towels for me are needed ;) )

We seem to have a great group of veterans and maybe we complete in 4-4 1/2 hours

The one issue I had with the site on a few occasions was immediately clicking a player I wanted and the entire 1:30 going by without the player being selected.

The other is no call button for the Commissioner.

Anyways, just a heads up and I am looking forward to drafting with this tough group of competitors!! .

I know what you're talking about, Jim. Even with a few selections in slo drafts, the name didn't appear on the draft board immediately.

Most of these drafters are savvy and will pick in a timely manner, hopefully, the technology will co-operate as well.

I'm kinda glad there are no adp reports. It rewards the players in slo drafts and satelites. They paid to get a feel of where players are being drafted and are getting their moneys worth. :D

Can someone post the Commish's phone number here, since there is no "Call Commish" button and since the draft MB only shows a few posts at a time. Thanks!

Dan,

I totally agree with your take on ADP's; I was somewhat happy with my draft last night from the 5 Hole; coming back I took a chance on Utley; I know why he fell that far (27th pick) but hell, might as well; I won't do that tonight coming back. ;)

The one issue I had with the site on a few occasions was immediately clicking a player I wanted and the entire 1:30 going by without the player being selected.Wait a while. Please clarify. The 1:30 went by and then who did it select? The guy you wanted or just the next guy in the rankings? That is a potential disaster.

I assume this will go faster with all the vets. I haven't been in any slow drafts so I have that disadvantage. I am usually the first one ready with my pick but I could get thrown off my game in this one.

Yes, one time it drafted the top guy on the board, but Geoff was right on top of it

ELL = Every League Luny is back in rare form.

Good luck t-night, Looked over last night's effort and lets just say you've got no place to go but up this evening. ;)

Agree on the Commish call button in the draftroom. Also not being able to DRAFT from your QUE was a knock from the Chip. Hopefully,

things pick up moving forward........Overall a positive experience..........other than looking over your team Christie!

Tom:

Chip used the flash, wasn't able to draft a player directly from our que last night. No Commish button and not having an Audible Command that it was our turn minor annoyances, we were happy. Minor tweaks, we enjoyed the experience.

I use Mozilla and was able to draft from the queue.

You just have to use the "draft player" button under the queue instead of the one above the main player list.

Do not use the html version. It was buggy from the start. I started on Flash before the draft but it wouldn't load. I should of rebooted and tried again. Nope I used the HTML and regret it.

Greg, Tell your tech team to dump the html version as fast as you can. The G man called

when he saw me bail out. He did a great job. But by the time he called me I'd had it with the draft site. Not the flash site the HTML site. It SUCKS!

I agree with John, the flash seems to be the way to go. you may have to adjust the sizing to fit your screen, but that should be no problem. all of the tools on the sight worked fine. i'm sure there's ways of improving the site, but overall, i thought it was great. it seemed to be a little slow when you picked players, and i'm not sure why that would be, but i didn't see it as an issue, outside of maybe slowing everything down a little. we were on a 6 hour pace for the first 8-10 rounds, but we finished in 4 1/2. we had a lot less problems in the later rounds.

Great draft yesterday everyone and great prep. It served as a reminder of how tough the competition in this contest can be.

It's always a pleasure to have your queue emptied constantly by those drafting right before you on an every round basis. :(

It was also a reminder of how much work I still have to do to get ready for this contest.

Catch you all in ten days. I'll be working hard to catch up.

Getting rid of this format would slow down the already very slow, slow drafts.

There is a definite need to get rid of the delay when drafting online. For the slow drafts the delay doesn't matter but for the events with a minute and a half time limit it could cause problems.
