15 Team - target numbers

Post by murenn » Tue Mar 15, 2011 6:54 am

Hey all,

Just wondering what are some target numbers I should be aiming for in a 15 team satellite league?

Last year was my first time in the NFBC format and I can't remember what numbers I should be striving for.

Is there any way of accessing last year's league pages?

Good question. And as always, the answer kind of depends. In a satellite league, you might get more variety of strategies (all relievers, no relievers, no steals, etc.) I have primarily been in the Main, so my numbers will reflect generally what I have seen and assumes you have a balanced approach (approximately 80% of all available categories).

For BA, typically the target will be between 0.278 and 0.282. RBI's from 1,050 to 1,100. Runs will be a little higher than RBI's, say 1,075 to 1,025. HR has been down lately. Most would target 275 to 285. SB would be 160 to 170.

For ERA, which has jumped around a bit, I would target 3.75 to 3.85 or so. Last year's numbers (Year of the Pitcher) brought the averages down quite a bit. Same with WHIP which I am targeting 1.28 to 1.29. 100 Wins and 85 Saves will usually have you with a combined 24.0 or 25.0 points. Strikeouts should be 1,200 to 1,300.

I know these are ranges, but there can be some fluctuation year to year.

Thanks for the quick reply!

You mention these are the numbers you are targeting - are they the numbers that will get you 15 points (1st place) or are they numbers to be competitive in the categories.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for your help Those are the targets for about 80% in each category.
