Just looking for some thoughts on Esmil Rogers. From what I have heard and seen he has nasty stuff and could put up big numbers. I bought him in some leagues for about 100 and hardly no one else bid on him. Am i missing the boat on this guy. Just curious. Made me look like I overbid.

he's a gamble pick. pitching in coors and a lack of quality experience. i made bids on him, just way too low

I went $106 for him in my league. Next highest was around $30. He was filthy in his first start but like Gekko said it's a pretty big gamble.

I'm hearing he is now throwing his changeup effectively. Last year he did not have confidence in the pitch, and apparently this year he does. If he starts missing bats with that pitch, good things will follow.

I heard the same thing that Jack did about his changeup. I actually drafted him in 3 of my slow draft leagues if that tell you anything. His bb/k rate has always been solid but, yes, he's quite a gamble at the back end of the rotation. 2 start week for him too.

I think he was one of the best free-agent pickups of the week. Rockies have one of the best defensive units in the league. Cargo, Fowler, Tulo and Stewart when playing...take away 4-6 hits a game.

I missed out on him because I spent my my free$

like a ra-tard.

I picked up Brandon Belt and Beachy week 1....over spent WAY to much on both. Now....I am broke :(

over/under for Belt to be sent back to AAA or ride the pine?

SF can't possiblt keep Huff in the outfield and have Belt drop pop-ups at 1st base...can they?

I love him. Solid K rate for an extreme GB pitcher. His stuff is legit. Needs better command, and, more than anything else, needs opportunity. This is a big week for him if he wants to hold off Cook.

He's a lottery ticket, but hasn't cost much and has real upside.

Hey MIGHTY, serves you right in the SUPER for picking up my scraps! ;)

Actually, tried to GET him back last weekend but you had more FAAB juice than I. I think he will work out fine as the season moves forward. Good luck with him. But I didn't miss him last night!

As an Esmil Rogers owner I can have a laugh @ this. Kenny Rogers inspiration......"Never count your earnies until the week is done."

I am so NOT looking forward to his weekend start. I have never excelled w/ Rockie SPing yet own 2 of them this season. I have to convince the partner that both have to hit da road.

Looks like you were the smart one. Who knows where he goes from here. I took the Esmil Rogers hit in 8 leagues last night.
Jack, let's see 8 earned runs x 8 leagues is ... hmmm... that's too high a number for me to figure out :D
I took him out of 2 and left him in 2, which was totally stupid and I knew it - but did it anyway. A home start against Lincecum and a road start against Josh Johnson. Really, what was the best case scenario, especially after how poor his command was against the Mets? Some K's? So dumb and avoidable.
