NFBC Owners To Get STATS Pass Free For Two Weeks

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Apr 15, 2011 4:38 am

We are VERY EXCITED to announce that all NFBC owners will receive access to STATS Pass FREE for the next two weeks starting today. Look for an email sometime today from STATS LLC giving you access to this incredible treasure trove of baseball statistics. You'll have this access for two weeks and if you'd like to continue having this access for baseball, football or any of the other major sports we'll figure something out. ;)

In case you've never heard of it before, STATS Pass is the ultimate online data source for teams, agents, players and media outlets. It has only been available to teams, agents and media partners from STATS in the past. This is not a consumer product. But the guys at STATS wanted to give the most die-hard fantasy baseball audience in the universe a chance to dive into this incredible data base and use it to help their fantasy baseball experience. This is an incredible opportunity for all of our NFBC members and we hope you enjoy it.

This has everything you'd need to evaluate players in 2011 and before. The data base has game logs from 1954 to present and every player, every team, every historical item you could ever imagine is available and broken down by splits, matchups and more. It will take a little time for you to find everything, but just surf around and use this thread to help each other find the good data.

Once you log in, you'll be directed to the current MLB Standings link. From there maybe go over to the STATISTICS link to the left and dive into a few of those pulldowns. Go to the Advanced Search pulldown and you'll see a bunch of opportunities to sort by time frame, matchups, situations, etc. This might be good for pitcher-hitter matchups for weekend games and more. You can also look at historical data here, as you can throughout the site.

The Scouting Reports pulldown has enough info in it to last you the full two weeks!! :D That one is incredible. Batter vs. Pitcher pulldown will help you with some matchups for the coming weeks.

The Players link is where you can find anything you want about anyone who ever played in the majors. The individual splits for each player for each season with game logs of every game ever played is PHENOMENAL. To even think that one company has all of this in one spot where you can call it all up in one second is amazing. My head hurts just thinking about all of this information in one spot. After a few hours of looking around, you'll understand why every media outlet, agent and pro team subscribes to STATS Pass. It's an amazing area of data collection that you will never find anywhere else.

For you historical buffs, enjoy the past data. It's amazing and the game logs are all there for the past 55+ years. Just amazing.

Again, this is a free trial run for all of our NFBC members, something very few consumers have ever seen before. Enjoy the experience and we'll try to do the same thing for our NFFC members this summer. If there's enough interest from NFBC members to extend their subscriptions, we'll come up with a plan to make that happen. Thanks all and enjoy.

This is the type of data I used when I was a beat writer covering the Packers in the 90s. This data was invaluable to me and it really is an amazing database of information. From a fantasy perspective, there are a large number of ways this information can be used to improve your team. You guys are gonna love this.

"Don't look back, something might be gaining on you"-----Satchel Paige Good to hear Rich. It had gotten so quiet on this thread I wasn't sure anyone received the email!! :D Now I know you folks have jumped into the statistics so deep you can't get out in time to post anything!! :D Enjoy the data. It really is amazing. There's so much there that Doughboys doesn't even know where to start a new Stuff column on.

We'll unveil the price point and see if it works for some of you folks. Next year we will offer this during the off-season so that you die-hards can REALLY prepare for your drafts. I think this will be an invaluable tool for some of you next off-season and definitely for our NFFC folks this season. Again, this isn't available to other consumers, so let us come up with a fair price and post it before the trial offer runs out. Thanks all and keep enjoying the data.

Just a heads up that later today you will receive an email from STATS letting you know that your STATS Pass free trial offer will last through the weekend. Continue to use the STATS Pass site until Monday when the offer will expire. Hopefully you enjoyed all of the data that was there.

The email will also allow you to purchase STATS Pass if you'd like. The price is $500. Details on how to sign up for this product will come in the email, but you most likely will just have to contact Tom and work through him to continue the service.

Thanks all and enjoy the data for now. Good luck the rest of the season.

I agree with KJ. I was excited to open up the email to see what it would cost. I ended up trashing the email in less time it takes me to get rid of SPAM!

We understand if it's cost prohibitive for you and others. This is a product that isn't designed specifically for consumers and agents and teams are paying much, much, much more for this data. We gave it to everyone free to use and everyone can just enjoy the trial basis if they'd like. Some may find it worthwhile before next season and again we'll offer it before baseball drafts next year and certainly before football drafts this summer.

No worries if it doesn't work out. We're just glad we were able to give you a free look at the historical data of Major League Baseball for a few weeks. Enjoy it through the weekend.

With STATS Pass I was able to look up the info for the first regular season games that I attended(I was a spring training kid)A two game series between Atlanta and the Phillies in august 1977.Rod Gilbreath hit two homers.Schmidt hit one.Pat Rockett ? was the Braves starting SS and made his 16th E.Funniest part the Big Phillies team of that era drew 5,711 one night and 5,972 the next in atlanta.O yeah and Bake McBride cussed me out as he got on the bus for the nerve of asking for his autograph. That wasn't on STATS Pass, just thought I would add it in.I did get a Willie Montanez broken bat though.
