But, time will tell I suppose He had 1 BB. Not bad considering the Yanks are very patient. He needs to still learn how to pitch, he grooved some FB's ahead of the count and his slider wasn't as sharp, it happens. All in all he had 13.1 innings, 5 earned runs, and 1 win this week, teams can live with that. He could be a solid play most weeks as long as he's starting...he doesn't have to contend for the Cy Young to be worth a pickup.
And it's I before E except after C, jk

Either you can be more speculative and proactive before the news (ie a bum like Mitchell Boggs would have cost you less than $20 in 90% of all leagues) or extremely aggressive after the news (Boggs cost more than $200 in many leagues).
Play against guys like RT. He picks up $1 players every week. Some bust BUT some....BOOM.
I overbid on Corey Patterson this week...it's tough to read the market sometimes.
He is such a tough call because he can light up the score board for you; BUT he doesnt have a startng gig secured when Davis comes off the DL and he is streaky. I picked him up for $20 last week and he gave me great 5 Cat stats. Bottom line you may have overbid in your league, but like the player, I expect that bids on him were volatile. I could see a Davis owner making a very aggressive bid on him.

For every Cole Hamels there are 4 Justin Smoak's.
I understand your concern about the likelihood these guys pay off. It makes a lot of sense. I guess my question is if you do not roll the dice on a guy with potential but question marks who do you roll the dice on then?

If his new plate discipline is for real, he could be a steal. Either way, he'll play as long as he stays hot.

I'm not banging anyone for picking up Ogando. I' just trying to understand the thinking of spending big on unknowns. He is an unknown. He only has two pitches, a slider and FB. Most succesful starters have at least three. The Yanks waited him out, they knew when the sliders were coming and they laid off the high cheese. Every Ball they hit last night was hit hard, including the three home runs. I personnaly think he is back in the BP when thier other starters are healthy.

More of a DP guy here (although Glenn X and KJ Duke brought him onboard in ME) - but Jed Lowrie's owners are feeling pretty good about him today - 4-4, hr, 4 rbi's - don't think this guy is coming out of the lineup for awhile now. I actually drafted and cut him in Week 1 - and was very grateful to get him back this week and say goodbye to Miguel Tejada.

All Lowrie needed was the chance. He's not coming out of the line up any time soon. He will put up numbers better than any other middle infielder taken after the first round!! I only wish I drafted him . but he went sooner than I thought ,considering he wasnt a starter.

Got David Murphy in one league for 287 (Hamilton owner)
Got Fuld in another for 289
Overpaid by 100 on both but wanted to make sure I got em.

I noticed Corey Patterson has been going for quite a bit... is there speculation that he will have a place in the lineup when Rajai Davis comes back? They gonna bench Rivera?

Should be interesting to see what happens. Seems like a complete waste of one of Patterson's few skills by having him DH, but that's what would have to happen. Bautista is not going to move from the OF. I doubt they would DH Snider.

That was actually the Auction Championships where I picked up Lowrie this week. After losing Furcal, seeing him available was like a gift from above. I won him $158 to $150, so someone else was feeling the same. I feel lucky right now to have won him.
Though I typically focused on more established MI's in this year's drafts, I grabbed Lowrie where I could in those drafts that I ended up waiting on MI. I was able to draft him in the 22nd round of the Ultimate and the 27th round for my best performing WCOFB Main Event team. I felt he'd eventually grab the Boston SS job and run with it, I just didn't expect it nearly this early. I wish I'd grabbed him more often. I'm sure many others feel this way as well at the moment.

Well, I know I made a huge mistake in my auction league when I cut Capps a few weeks ago when Nathan came back. Then Nathan came back and did absolutely nothing. Thanks Nathan! I should have held on to Capps until I saw more from Nathan. Live and learn...
Yea wishing now that you wouldn't have gone that extra dollar. We tried to sneak that one through but we couldnt justify 5 bucks on a unnamed closer.
