from Twitter Joe Strauss (beat writer STL Today)

For the first time since closer issue arose, TLR today didn't deny possible change. Chose instead not to answer directly.

Clubhouse read is that for whatever reason Franky has lost movement on cutter, sinker. RH bats mauling him. More in P-D later tonight.

TLR, Dunc', Mo' to discuss closer situation in next 24 hours. Vibe is that change is coming.

Dunc' on Franky: "Once, you can blow it off. Twice, you can blow it off... more than that, it's real difficult for it not to affect you."

Looks like they will go the committee route until somebody stands out. Motte $3 bids look smart right now.

Motte is about 4th in line in Larussa's tiny brain behind Bautista (ha ha), Boggs (should be the closer), and Sanchez. Good luck to all in trying to figure out " the genius" Larussa. We are sick of him in STL and have been for a long time.

I saw Motte walk the pitcher (not Zambrano :D ) w/ 4 pitches...w/ the bases loaded! This was just the other day, so I'd rather throw my dart at Boggs.

This is so great and is perfect example of why you should watch the action on the field and judge for yourself. 2 or 3 days ago Tony was saying those young guys aren't any better, not gonna replace Franklin, blah/blah/blah.

Now this. I guess someone's matured alot in a week ;)

tony is as crazy as ozzie guillen. i think you guys are kidding yourself if you know who is next in line... i think its miguel batista... and i didnt even make a bid on him. tony loves the vets and i wouldnt be shocked to see him get first crack... and by first crack.. i mean all the balls that will be flying everywhere. batista will destroy a teams whip all by himself.

i dont think they have a legit closer in that bullpen. i wonder who will get heath bell first.. the cards, the brew crew, or some other squad?

Larussa sitting in a dugout now thinking when I bring in Batista in the 9th it will prove to everyone I know best. I know of no one in sports in the last 50 years more overrated than Tony Larussa.

You're right he'll go with the unobvious to try to make himself look like a genius. Last years pitcher in the 8th hole was a prime example. I think he goes with Motte.

Lets see how long that lasts! Motte will be closer by the all star break. Boggs closed out a SD team. Lets see him do it vs a good club.

And Sanchez set up.

Is this TLR way of moving up the food chain?
