I've never seen a pitcher more unlucky than Brandon Morrow. 4 run inning today on 4 dinks and dunks and a stupid IBB (Farrell has proven to be an overmatched moron so far; who IBBs to set up a DP in the 3rd inning?).

.342 BABIP last year and it's even worse this year

Tough day on the mound for The ACE ;) But who I am I to say, I suck at judging pitchers!

That's a pretty devastating start.

Yep, Agree RT. I usually take guys like Morrow on my teams, because I focus to early on Offense and end up chasing pitching all draft and year! Morrow is one of the guys I would usually take because of his "Upside", but he is who he is... Lots of K's and lots of tears at the end of most days!

Morrow's not even BBing that many guys. The HR to Varitek's corpse is unacceptable, but Morrow has been almost impossibly unlucky on balls in play.

.342 BABIP last year and it's even worse this year Batted ball speed effects BABIP right? When you throw hard, it's at least a thing said, I have no evidence, but it's said that the ball travels faster off the bat.

This is just something that occurred to me this second after reading your post. I'm somewhat of a skeptic of BABIP in general because there are so many factors that it's impossible to isolate any individual factor. But if average MPH at least correlated with BABIP (I doubt it, just saying), that would be interesting.

It's hard to mash against Morrow, but maybe ground-outs and flares become hits more often. Who knows.
