Guys it looks like I was wrong on (based on very early returns)

this is all with the caveat that it's still very early

1) James Shields - just didn't believe in this guy. I had him pegged a strike-thrower with just ok stuff who didn't miss enough bats

2) Nick Markakis - I can't believe I got suckered again. Another bad start.

3) Josh Beckett - like Shields, I stayed away from Beckett in all my leagues

4) Gordon Beckham - let's hope the slump doesn't last too long this year

5) Colby Lewis - rut roh

6) Nate McLouth - is the power gone for good?

I think all of them are due to regress one way or another, except for McLouth. He stinks and he's never going to get out of the 8 hole, which cuts down on his SBs and renders him basically useless. I was suckered on him too.

P.S. I am going to find and strangle Ned Yost if Mike Aviles does not start at least 2 of the games in this series.

aviles goes 0-4 and gets benched for 4 games. if they did that for all these smoaks we each would have about 4 players active. carlos pena is about 0 for the year. he smiles well so there is that. meanwhile colvin just sits.

getz- don't you think it sometimes boils down to the manager knows the gm traded for the guy and so he plays that guy over the better player. i know getz is supposedly better on d- but i watched him with the sox and he isn't exactly a stud. i don't have aviles- but he should play somewhere.

another guy I should mention is Lance Berkman... it could be just a hot month, but I didn't see it coming. He is really driving the ball.

Probably, because there's no actual baseball reason for giving Getz 600 PAs. The Fielding Bible had Getz at -2 runs last year, -3 the year before, and -1 this year. Aviles was -1, -6, and 0 this year. Not much of a difference, especially when compared to the fact that Aviles' career OPS is 120 points higher (or, put another way, the same career OPS difference between Miguel Cabrera and Adam LaRoche).

Colvin has been disappointing, that's why he hasn't been playing. Go to a lot of Cubs fans and as long as Fukudome is hot they will keep him in the lineup...

He shouldn't be a huge surprise, especially hitting behind Albert and Holliday. When guys like him are healthy, they still produce.

I thought Kendrys Morales was a less risky pick than Morneau. Now we're hearing June as a best case scenario for Morales' return after ANOTHER setback.

Someone mentioned on a different post how it's strange that Utley allegedly went all winter without running/jogging/detecting a problem with his knee only to be almost completely immobilized come spring training. I wonder the same thing about Morales. How can you be a 27 year old aspiring superstar with tens of millions of potential income on the line and not do everything within your power to rehab and make sure you're ready to go after losing an entire season to injury? What has he been doing since May of last year? What were the Angels medical staff doing? Is this a complete lack of work ethic or delusions of one's own ability/healing process?

If it's me, I'm itching to get back in shape to prove to everyone, especially to myself that I'm still the same player, one who's getting better. Then again, I'm not already sitting on a few million dollars. Sometimes injuries can't be predicted, but it just seems that properly motivated players would know ahead of time if they were behind schedule.

At this point Morales owners have to seriously consider how much Kendrys will contribute this year if at all.
