viper,
Within the no SP strategy we see the 2 alternatives. My solution was to use only 2 quality slots and make up the difference with MRs who were likely to either get some save chances or be promoted through injury or performance. In round 8 crazytown took Mota while I took Andruw Jones.
My strategy also had the benefit of beating any teams in my league who used the 3 only strategy in Ws and Ks...that's a couple of very important extra points for me.

You are right, Viper, they can draft those injured players if they want no pitching stats from their last 6 or 7 pitchers. But it gets tougher to find those injured players than it is just to name 6-7 Class A pitchers. And if two teams are implementing that same strategy in the same league, it gets even tougher to find 12-14 pitchers who are out for the year.
Again, I'm not against the strategy, but I think I can make the system even fairer next year by sticking to 40-man rosters. I chose not to use those this year because of confusion we had on Draft Day last year, but I see the need for it now.

Yeti,
You can say 'bush league' all you want. I suspect your experience level at high stakes competition is rather low. Part of preparation for events like this is studying not only the players but also the rules. I'd prefer NOT to have minor leaguers next year. I'm glad the rules will be amended. However, the rules allowed them this year and so I incorporated them in my strategy. Your strategy seems to consist of yelling insults. Good luck with that. Maybe it will work. As far as the Fandangos who say "fools!", well, he they should be happy that there are those of us who have donated to his championship. He should advocate the strategy to others and implore as many people as possible to utilize it. It increases his chances of winning. As for me, I have had success in the past with the closer only strategy in high stakes competition. I'm sure it will fail this year. Might as well start studying football. -

I am thankfull there are still plenty of people in these high stakes games who will let the so called "spirit of the game" keep them from using every edge the rules allow. It cuts down on the number of people I have to worry about trying to beat.

As I said on a different board I don't begrudge anybody who used the strategy, since it was legal. The bush league comment is with respect to the rules that allow it, not the people who took advantage of it. It makes no sense to award first place in pitching categories to teams that attempt to have the worst possible players at those postions. Simply a theoretical debate, not an attack on anyone.
Ken, glad you don't think you have to worry about beating me. We'll see now that the games are being played.
