Enjoy it now, Brewers fans-

Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder homered in their game last night. The 30th time they have done so since Braun was called up to the Bigs in 2007. Ryan Howard and Chase Utley are next during that timeframe with 26.

Teddy Tippytoes-

Only four players have stolen bases over the course of four decades. Of course, a player must start a career during the latter part of a decade to be on this list....and being fast doesn't hurt.

The players are Rickey Henderson, Tim Raines, Omar Vizquel, and  Ted Williams.

You make the donuts, I'll eat them-

Yesterday there was only 14 games due to the rainout in Cleveland. Despite this, there were six, count 'em, six shutouts.

We've already had over 80 shutouts, but only 17 of them were done by a solo pitcher.

I'll just call it a record (hey, it's my post)-

I have no way of verifying this, so I'm just calling this a record. Yesterdays games were screwy. The Fox primetime showing of the Yankees-Red Sox seem to have most teams scheduling their game at an earlier time.

Anyway, I am guessing that with all 30 teams scheduled on a non-Sunday, it may be the first time since teams headed west, that the Yankees and Cubs at home had the latest start time of the day.

With the First Pick of the 1922 Draft, I'll take....-

Joe DiMaggio's streak will probably never be touched. Heck, we live in an age where broadcasters get excited about a streak of just 30 games reaching base, let alone hit in every game.

I'm sick of living in the 'hitless age', so I went back to one of the best players I never saw. While Babe Ruth was tearing up the A.L., Hornsby was doing the same to the N.L.

In 1922, Hornsby came close to leading batters in EVERY category. This wasn't just a triple crown, this was a triple crown with whupass.

Hornsby led the league in Avg, OBP, Slugging percentage, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, rbi, and finished in the top five of triples, top ten in stolen bases. Oh yeah, he also had the highest fielding average at his position.

We are at the Quarter Pole-

With one quarter of the season done, there are a few candidates for the 30-30 club.

Ryan Braun has 11 home runs and seven stolen bases.

Drew Stubbs has seven homers with 13 stolen bases.

Matt Kemp has seven home runs with 12 stolen bases.

Poo poo to the pundits-

All off season, I heard from 'experts' that Jose Bautista can never repeat last year and lead baseball in home runs.

Jose Bautista leads baseball in home runs.

One strong shortstop....Or 29 weak ones?

Troy Tulowitzki has 10 home runs, no other shortstop has more than six.

In fact, only four other shortstops have more than three.

Hey, I still turn double plays!-

Second baseman used to have a reputation as being a 'fast' position.

As of now, the injured Orlando Hudson leads all 2b with 10 stolen bases. Ian Kinsler is next with seven.

Of the 30 normally starting second baseman for the 30 teams, only nine are hitting over .260

A p.s. to the Hornsby year of 1922.

Hornsby played in all 154 games that year, another category he led the league in.

In those 154 games, he got hits in 135 games.

Which means he went hitless in just 19 games.

A lot of players in just a quarter of the season this year have already reached that number.
