In all years past I have loaded up on offense and figured out the pitching later. You know 2-3 30/30 types and a top catcher to boot to start my draft as Halladay and the boys go flying off the board! Grabbing # 2 and # 3 pitcher types all the way through my first 15 rounds convinced this was their year they would TAKE THAT NEXT STEP

As of today, In my 5 leagues I have 1 team with a team ERA under 4.00 and my whips I believe are all well over 1.33.
This last week I watched my best team (was in 5th place) in a $1000 Keeper league get DESTROYED. I had Josh Johnson go on the DL last week and I decided to load up on middle of the rotation guys who had 2 starts. After all I had a 3.50 era and a 1.2759 whip and only had 20 wins and thought maybe I would get a few extra wins this week along the way! How bad could it be!

Well here is the line I got last week from Britton, Cain, Cueto, Danks, Gorzellany, E Jackson, Madson, Nunez, and J Vargas.
Here is their line... 12 Starts (Gorzellany missed his 2nd one due to injury and sucking)
0 Wins, 3 Saves, only 44 k's, 7.870 era, 1.7892 whip
Moving my team from 5th place (sometimes 3rd) down to 9th place with a new team ERA at 4.155 and my whip at 1.353 and that in my opinion was the end of my season for that league!
Once again I am not crying in baseball, just learning!
But next time a guy like RT takes the time to to hack over my teams and my strategy a bit before the season and he says, "Max, I think you need to start grabbing more quality pitching early on in your drafts, because in these high $ leagues pitching always goes fast"! I'm going to listen!
Ok, now I'm crying
