this year really does remind me of my first couple years in the nfbc. no matter how much i tried to improve my team during the year, it was like running in quicksand.

the motto (at least for me) seems, shrik the offseason prep, pay the price. tough pill to swallow.

the is the first year in a while i'm actually looking forward to playing fantasy football :D

I've had enough practice sadly with these cement shoe teams. Great sequence from great movie sums it up for me every time. Kind of a mantra...

Jimmy Conway: You get it straightened out?

Vinnie: No, we had a problem... and uh, we tried to do everything we could.

Jimmy Conway: What dyou mean?

Vinnie: Well, you know what I mean. Team's gone, and we couldnt do nothing about it. [pause] Thats it.

Yup. Shirk your prep and the NFBC players will eat you for lunch.

With my first 6 SP starts this week - 37 ER. I lost 10 points in the Super in ERA and WHIP. That beats it. Thank you.

Best part is that you don't actually have to do ANY prep for a while, as things are going to change DRAMATICALLY after free agency (if there is one! )

I'm sure I had my reasons, but I'm still trying to figure out why I cut Mike Morse on May 22 in one of ME leagues, while also picking him up in FA in one of the Ultimate leagues on the same day. All he's done is it .370 with 6 HRs and 19 RBIs in the last 2 weeks.

family + health taken care of, i'm an nfbc lifer. i think what i've proven is that if i can't commit to putting time into baseball by mid december, i need to sit the season out. i'm not as smart as some of you and do need the extra prep time

Strike while he is vulnerable!!!!

Shoot, I may have to get back in the mix next year. My Diamond Challenge team is doing pretty well and staying up with "most" of the player pool. It's keeping up with all this minor league stuff which sucks for me, and I am WAY behind most in the NFBC.

He was abit dinged up, missed a few games due to some minor injury and of course had been AWFUL.

What I reminded myself was I didn't draft the guy b/c he was the King of Spring Training. I drafted him b/c he had 15 HR's in < 300 AB last yr AND more importantly seemed primed for full time AB.

One of the reasons I like the DC format...don't hafta worry about FAAB and dropping a player who becomes Babe Freakin Ruth out of nowhere!

Bad pitching for a week? How about bad pitching for 2 months!!!

Let me tell ya, it really really sucks to find out that half your staff for your main-event team has decreased velocity during the first week of the season!!!

Liriano and Hughes (my #1 and 3 starters)

C Lewis - at least early in the year (my #2 starter)

B Cecil- my #6

I can overcome a bad week, not sure I can overcome the hole I'm in right now.

I cannot seem to get any good pitching on my clubs either. Just a horrific year brewing. Proof it was just beginners luck last year. Whatever I try doesn't work either. Know exactly what you are talking about. It is not in my nature to give up on any team and it is not fun trying to improve so many bad teams. Have to inherit even more risk and none of them ever seem to work. In some ways, it is good to see some of the best there are having tough goes at it also. I think I identified part of my mistake. I never had a draft plan on any team. I just let the draft come to me, and take the "value picks" in the early rounds. This works for me in football as I am more easily able to adjust on the fly having so much experience. Baseball is a little different animal. Then the fellas I was heavily invested in have sucked. Figgins, Loney, Volzuez(dropped everywhere so I am sure he will be great now), Wood, Arroyo and the list seems to go on and on. The only thing I think I got right, is drafting Farnsworth on quite a few teams. Trainwreck of a season, but I will keep battling as best I can.

Interesting to hear the difference between football and baseball. In the leagues I'm in with you, your offenses have been ridiculously good.

Personally, I think baseball is substantially more difficult from a draft perspective to go with a value-type approach simply because of the need to fill so many positions (including an entire pitching staff) and the rotisserie scoring. It's very easy to leave yourself short in areas (almost always saves for me).

Colby Lewis, brilliant last week and tonight's start simply beyond words. As if the ERA wasn't already bad enough... Pitching pitching pitching.

All I can do is sink my head in defeat tonight, go enjoy the rest of the night with the wife and be thankful I don't have worse problems in life at the moment.

Pitching has severely wounded more than one of my teams these past couple weeks. Blowup start after blowup start, blowup save oppurtunity after blowup save opportunity. It's been ugly.

I'm going to need a Ron Necciai 27 stikeout no-hit effort to recover from these disasters.

Beat this...a hitter worse than Adam Dunn right now. I've been watching baseball for 40 years, never seen anyone worse from at bat to at bat
