Congratulations to the tag team of Richard Gordon of Las Vegas, Nevada and Charles Levitz for winning the second annual NFBC Auction Championship and the $15,000 grand prize. This was a phenomenal accomplishment for Richard and Charles, who last year finished second to Jeff Dobies in the Auction Championship, missing out by one-half of a point in 2010. This year they edged Lindy Hinkelman and 133 other owners for the overall title.
This is an incredible story that we'll tell in full later, but let me tell you that Richard and Charles have been with the NFBC since 2005 always drafting in Las Vegas. They first entered our Main Event and auctions before finally concentrating their efforts on the mixed auction leagues in 2010. They had great success last year and then decided to do three mixed auction leagues this year in Las Vegas. They did the first weekend Mixed Auction League in Las Vegas together, but a death in the family took Richard away from Las Vegas the second weekend.
Rather than get out of the two mixed auction leagues that second weekend, Charles took the reigns at the auction table that weekend after going over strategy with Richard. Their game plan obviously worked as their 4 pm Auction team won the league title and the overall title by 74.5 points. GREAT JOB GUYS.
Kudos to Richard and Charles, a perfect tag team in 2011.

Richard Gordon/Charles Levitz Win NFBC Auction Championship
Congratulations Richard and Charles!
Quite an accomplishment coming from such a league this year as all will surely notice that there were three teams in the Top 10 from the Las Vegas March 25 4 pm Auction League!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Richard Gordon/Charles Levitz Win NFBC Auction Championship
Richard and Charles, congratulations on winning the auction championship. I didn't think it was possible to win an overall by punting a category, but you proved me wrong. Great job.

Thank you all.
It was not easy deciding to punt saves because, as you know, you gotta do well everywhere else, no exceptions. When you exclude one category, there are 1215 points available to be gotten. We ended up with 1175 points. That means we got 96% of all available points we aimed for. We will never do that again, I believe. 9 starters at all times and we ended up in the top 5 in ERA and top 2 in ratio. Can't imagine that will happen again.
