Not sure if they are Badgers fans, but they have a dang good team as well. I don't see anybody beating them in conference this yr. The only problem is they are going to need several other teams to lose in order to make it in the BCS championship game. If ever there was a yr where a playoff was needed in NCAA foots, this might very well be it.

I think Wisconsin is the best team in the country, at least right now they are. If they go undefeated they will almost assuredly be in the final game.
Greg and Tom, I've always wondered about the perception of Bud Selig in your neck of the woods. He is a despised commissioner around the country, what say the the fans in your area? I loved the old time commissioners who looked out after the best interests of the game. The owners got fed up with those guys (Kuhn, Ueberoth, Giamatti, Vincent) and appointed one of their own and in the meantime changed the way the commissioners office is viewed by fans. I think the game has regressed under him. What do others think?

Since when is Bud Selig "despised"? History will look kindly on several things he did, not the least of which is adding a wild card team to the playoffs. If you want to talk about ********* commissioners, how about Brian Goodell? The most exciting play in football is the kickoff return and this moron gets rid of it by moving up the kick 5 yards, resulting in touchbacks. No wonder it's the No Fun League!

Good luck Guys!!!!!! It's been a FANTASTIC 2011.
Getting NFBC/NFFC back and joining STATS. WIN-WIN!!!
Packers win the Super Bowl
Brewers reach NLCS
Tom and I are at Game 5 of NLDS and get on the JumboTron!!!
Badgers make it to 2011 Rose Bowl and now could reach BCS game
Packers could win it all again
Yeah, we're on a roll. Even the Bucks could finish in a tie for first place at 0-0 if the NBA calls off this season!
That would be their highest finish since about 1988!
We're living the good life. 82 degrees in October is pretty sweet too. Next thing you know the stock market will jump to 14,000!!! Then we'd all be happy dudes!!

And that was the 8th ranked team in the country? Give me a break. That ranking was based on reputation, not talent. Wisconsin is "ranked" lower than LSU and Oklahoma, but does that mean they're not as good? With Russell Wilson at QB, this could be the best team in the country. If they run the table, they should be in the title game. It's time to get rid of the BCS and the stupid bowls and at the very least play a Final 4 and do a championship game from those winners.
Wisconsin is damn good and that's not just a homer saying that. Russell Wilson makes all the difference in the world and he is a legit Heisman Trophy candidate.

Could it be the Triple Crown year for Greg and Tom
As for how Wisconsin fans feel about Selig, it's a great question. He was revered as the most passionate owner in baseball from 1970 to around 1990. He was always in his box, coming outside to cheer on the players and never missed a pitch. He LIVED with every pitch.
But when the economics really began changing the game and County Stadium was preventing fans from attending, he got cheap and asked Paul Molitor to take a paycut. That was the beginning of the end. He put his daughter Wendy and her husband Laurel Prieb in charge and the team became a joke. They cried about the economics and didn't work hard enough to build a good minor league system.
That all changed with new ownership and the arrival of Doug Melvin and Gord Ash. The Brewers invested in their minor league system and this team has grown together through the minors and now into the majors. This is a fun, very good team and they sold over 3 million tickets this year thanks to a fabulous stadium. The retractable roof at Miller Park makes every game a pleasure. Trust me, I sat in the bleachers at County Stadium for 14 straight home openers and I swear it snowed at all but one of them. Every April and May game was so brutal the 5,000 or so fans who came wore their longjohns and Packer parkas. It was brutal.
Selig threw out the first pitch at yesterday's Game 5 -- to Robin Yount, no less -- and he got a standing ovation. I stood too. He is the one person who brought baseball to Milwaukee in 1970 and he is the one person who fought for Miller Park. Some Milwaukee residents still hate him for the stadium -- an extra 1/2 percent sales tax is still in effect for Milwaukee County -- but without it the Brewers would be gone. Instead, they now bring in more revenue for the Milwaukee area than anything else. Bud made that possible by fighting for the new stadium, which is allowing the Brewers to remain competitive and for Milwaukee to be in the spotlight now.

Bud WAS despised because he was a hand-picked commissioner by the owners to keep their position unified while fighting the players. That's what led to the Strike of '94, the cancellation of the World Series and the delay of the '95 season. Bud was the leader of all of that. Then of course he had to end the All-Star Game in Milwaukee with the score tied because the managers ran out of pitchers and Bud's incredulous look when they called the game made him look bad again.
But you are right, he pushed for the Wild Card and that has been great for the game. I agreed with that right away because good teams were being left out of the playoffs just because they were in tougher divisions. He kept labor peace and in fact few people realize that the labor agreement ends at the end of this season. Yet there is no bickering and a deal could be announced before the end of the World Series. He's brought that peace to the game. He also convinced all of the owners to share in MLB.com as everyone invested in that along with the MLB Network. So his legacy will be strong, no doubt about it.
I don't believe he's as despised now as he was before. Yes, the Steroid Era was on his watch, but many people can be blamed for that. The media has a field day with that now, but nobody questioned McGwire or Sosa during the great home run race of '98. Everyone just loved it too much. So let's blame a lot of people for that.
He's been a good commish and if we never have another strike on his watch then he's been a very good commish.

Yes. Wisconsin is good, but they aren't in the same class. They'll slip up against someone they shouldn't and this will all be moot.

Yes. Wisconsin is good, but they aren't in the same class. They'll slip up against someone they shouldn't and this will all be moot. Maybe, but I for one think they are for real. They have beaten who they had to beat soundly. They more than handled Nebraska. If they get by Illinois, and Michigan State (both good teams having good years) they should be able to pretty much right their own ticket. If they do slip up, it will be on a down game against a Ohio State, Penn State (not great teams but dangerous proud programs) or even an Indiana.
LSU is my pick for the best team in the country (sorry Ken), but they will have to get by Bama and Arkansas, not to mention who limps out of the SEC East for the SEC Championship. If they both get through with zero or one defeat, I would pay to see LSU - Wisconsin!
And this coming from a pure SEC disciple and a dyed-in-the-wool Georgia Bulldog who thinks that the "real" national championship happens normally when the SEC East meets the SEC West in December!
Since the SEC is undefeated in the BCS Title Game, if three teams go undefeated this year, I am betting the SEC get frozen out again like Auburn a few years ago!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
