Hey Perry! One of the Braves pitching prospects, a righty named JJ Hoover, also made the Rising Starts. Did you notice him or another of the Surprise guys from the Braves, a lefty Sean Gilmartin?
With Tehran, Delgado, Vizcaino, and Minor in front of them, I do not think I will see them in Atlanta next year, but I could possibly see them in AAA, so I was looking for a little of your insight. Hey Wayne, I don't have my file in front of me but off the top of my head
Hoover - likely JAG (scout tag for just another guy but that could change because there is upside there. Unfortunately Hoover only pitched a few innings here so I couldn't really get enough to weigh in.
Gilmartin however I really like. A left handed guy who knows how to pitch - the advantage of drafting a guy from a good college program, you would say pretty polished for a first year player (just drafted in June). While he doesn't have that one WOW pitch and most scouts have him as an end of rotation guy, I think he can be better than that long term.

PS - there will be an AFL prospects review at Mastersball next week

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

The point being some of the drafters were not familiar with the nuances of drafting and just focused on players they like as opposed to getting players they like at maximum value.

They don't all emerge immediately, but they are factors at some point in FAAB.
If you look at the 2010 AFL list, the following players emerged at some point during the season:
Brandon Belt
Eric Hosmer
Dustin Ackley
Jerry Sands
Jason Kipnis
Johnny Giavotella
Ben Revere
Danny Duffy
Josh Collmenter
The players I mentioned might not be factors right away in 2012, but you are correct in a 50-round Slow Draft you're going to need access to some of these AFL guys. They could emerge late in the season and be starters for your Slow Draft teams at some point. We'll do our best to get them in the system so that you can draft them easily in these Slow Drafts.
