Rip Collins got his nickname supposedly when he ripped a ball so hard that it impaled itself on a nail on the right field fence.

One of the few people that had RIP at the top and bottom of his headstone.

Sorry for any delay, at school today. My pick is

Rich Aurilla 2001 SS

.324 AVG / 37 HR / 114 R / 97 RBI / 1 Steal

Once Ripken went I had to go with Aurilla as I had the two of them basically ranked in the same spot and I needed to get one of them. Still 37 homers for a SS is not bad.

Well, we're coming down the home stretch of this draft and I guess it's time to start grabbing some pitchers again.

For quite some time now, there's been only one player remaining in the pitching pool with 20+ wins, 200+ strikeouts, an ERA under 2.00, and a WHIP 1.00 or under. Amazingly in this draft and with those numbers, he'll still cause my ERA and WHIP to rise. However, there aren't too many other starters that any of us will be drafting at this point who won't cause possibly even a greater rise in those categories and certainly not too many others that will provide plus wins and K's as well. Therefore that player will be my pick here. That pitcher.......

Wilbur Wood 1971

W - 22

S - 1

ERA - 1.91

WHIP - 1.00

K - 210

The next guy is the Harmon Killebrew of our generation. I think one of the shames of the steroid era is that some guys have not been given the credit or the accolades that they might have otherwise received if it weren’t for the time period during which they play. And one of those guys is my next pick. With 604 career home runs…………..

I’ll take 2002 Jim Thome 1B

WHIP 0.97 Guess you don't want any of Cordero's saves.

I think it would be interesting to do this draft again but from different positions in the draft. Or even do it again with the KDS as I think that the draft would turn out very different. I would be interested and I know my team would be very different the second time around.

I'm sure there will be enough interest for a repeat! I would suggest cutting the blinds from 4 to 2 and holding them in round 10 and 11. That way, the players selected would be about equal value regardless of one's draft position. Also, we could get it out of the way all at once. (Much easier on the person taking the emails!)
