Stupidest Off-Season Fantasy Report

Post by Edwards Kings » Sat Oct 29, 2011 1:28 am

We get some real goofy reports until the rubber hits the road in Spring Training. I thought I would start a thread so everyone can have a chuckle.

My first one is not the worst, but it is typical of how certain writers really go out on a limb (posted at Rotoworld from something called the Wilmington News Journal):

"Cole Hamels has been cleared to begin his offseason program. Hamels posted 194 strikeouts over 216 innings and will be a top option worthy of an early-to-mid round pick next season. Barring an unforseen setback, he'll be ready for the beginning of spring training."

"...early-to-mid round pick..."? Ya think? Insightful...deep!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
