Well, I keep telling myself that.
I wonder who Bonds was dropped to acquire... and what the team owner KEPT as Barry was let go.

Just the fact that the team dropping BONDS is in 289 Overall should preclude him from making this move.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Bonds just went from team #289 to team #39. hmmmm
Please do not think that SlackerBrothers did anything wrong by bidding on Bonds. A guy got dropped and we bid on him. We bid 401 and had the highest bid.
The next bid was only $56 ... Dont you think everyone in the league should have bid on him? Why would $56 be the second bid? Looks like about 13 other teams in LV9 were not interested.
We play this game fair and 100% by the book!!!
Please do NOT think any different.

Why was Mike Hampton dropped in any league ? B. Lyon has 13 saves... why would he be dropped ? Why would John Patterson be dropped ?
Is it in the rules that certain players can not be dropped ?
Do I think Bonds should have been dropped ? Not if he was on my team ...
The bigger issue is that we spent 401 and because of that did not bet large on any of the other players in the pool for last week... ie: I lost out a Ryan Wagner, as well as numerous others.

SlackerDan Dan, give me a call at 715-445-4612, ext. 284. I left a voice message and e-mail with Evan, but haven't heard back from him yet. Just give me a call and we'll talk this through professionally. Doing anything on the message boards doesn't make sense.

The team picking up Bonds has absolutely nothing to explain in my opinion. It is the team that dropped him that should be closely scrutinized. 401 dollars would not have gotten you him in a league with me. I hate it for Evan and Dan- 2 of the nicest guys I met in Vegas if they don't get him, but I do think he should have ever been allowed to be dropped in the first place.

Bonds will be returned to his original lineup in LV 9. I have talked with Dan and he has been above the call of duty in understanding my reasoning. First class all the way and in no way is any blame pointed their way. It's pointed all our way for missing this cut, Tom and I.
I will finalize this move with STATS tomorrow and explain more. As per our rules, I do have the authority to prevent cuts that I feel damage the integrity of the overall contest and this roster has several other options for cuts other than Bonds. It was our fault for not jumping in last week before Bonds became available in FAAB. Again, our apologies to Dan and Evan and to LV 9 for not stepping in when we should have.

I call B.S.!
Where does it end- which player is "too good" to be dropped? This was suppose to be a hyper competitive league.
Didn't we all think we were so called "experts" for joining this league? I did, I won my 18 team mixed league 3 times in 5 years with better owners than this league can offer. We don't give "do-overs" in that league if an owners does something stupid. We are all so called experts and should be allowed to manage our teams accordingly. Should the retards that paid over $300 for adam bernero get their faab back for their stupid bids? Of course not. Everyone is all worked up because of the name game- Bonds. Stats are stats. Stats win titles not names.
Is this a cheesy free yahoo league? Where is the "can't cut list?"I didn't see any can't cut list when I joined this league.
What's next people that dropped Hampton get him back because he's pitching well?
If someone cuts damon hollins will he be returned to his org. owner? He does have 6 more homers than bonds this year...and will probably end with more homers than him.
Bonds is a 41 one year old roid rager with bad knees. Slackers should have to eat him and his zero's that stiff would give him. You guys in LV9 should want slacker to take that bench spot eating zero's instead of crying like a bunch of little babies.
Too bad their isn't trading maybe slacker could trade bonds and get back : burgos (175, macdougal over 200 and bernero well over 300) but then you guys might think dan is getting too much for bonds eh?
Count me out for next year. I thought this was a league full of competitors not babies.
p.s. Throop is my 'lady'

Where is the "can't cut list?"I didn't see any can't cut list when I joined this league.

p.s. Throop is my 'lady' All opinions are welcome. The integrity of the overall contest is more important than anything else. The owner who made this cut has plenty of other options on his reserve to cut other than Bonds. Yes, he wanted to pick up and activate Jason Dubois last week and that will be allowed, but there are other options outside of Bonds that this owner can cut without causing such a stir in the overall contest.

Ok Greg,
I just hope bonds is out for the year.
One question for you...let's say tomorrow espn reports bonds is out for the year, will it be ok for everyone to drop him then?
Then let's say 2 weeks later they report he'll be back? will you reverse all those moves too? Where does it end?
thanks,
Throop's daddy

Throop's daddy You hope Bonds will be out for the year? Ok, rot in hell then. No more playing nice here - Bonds is the man. I defy you to take roids and hit 20 HR in the big leagues. Bonds will come back at the All Star break and probably hit 25 HR in the 2nd half. His knee infection was unfortunate and very dangerous, but it DID allow the rest of his body to heal up appropriately whereas he may have rushed it otherwise.
If you don't trust Greg to make the right decisions then don't play next year. I'm sure we'll all miss you and your 'rave against the man' mantras.
You da man, you rebel you...

Throop's daddy Yes, it's possible that Bonds will be allowed to be cut after this. At this point, he has the potential to come back and dominate three categories by himself and it's not fair to the 19 other leagues who don't have a chance to pick up a free agent like this in their individual leagues. But another factor in this case is that this owner has many other players he can cut other than Bonds, which factors into my decision here. Listen, he also has Rocco Baldelli and Magglio Ordonez on his reserve roster now and if he's going to cut someone that he's kept this long, why is it Bonds? I'm comfortable making this decision today, but you are correct that in a few weeks if Bonds' status changes this same owner may be allowed to cut Bonds if I feel it won't hurt the chances of all 285 other owners not in LV 9 to fairly win the $100,000.
No, I won't rule based on ESPN reports. If he's allowed to be cut -- such as we've allowed with Garciaparra, Ordonez and others -- then that ruling will be final. Then it's buyer beware.

I can honestly say that all of these injuries make it tough when analyzing the cuts. Brandon Lyon is another example we'll have to deal with soon. I will write about this tomorrow on another thread and possibly add a thought on our rules. We do not try to get involved in the moves of these leagues and on most injuries we've allowed the owners to manage their teams. But again, Bonds is too big of a wild card at this point to allow this particular cut when the most sensible move is to allow this owner to still retain the player he acquired via free agency and cut someone else on his reserve roster. If the prognosis changes on Bonds in a few days or weeks, this owner will still have the opportunity to deal with Bonds as he sees fits. At no point did the move we make today affect any of the stats, since Bonds was inactive all the time anyway. The ones who were hurt were Dan and Evan Satinoff, who bid differently this week thinking that Bonds was available in LV 9. To them, I sincerely apologize for our miscue last week.
