bonds return date?

Post by Corkedbats » Thu Jun 02, 2005 3:01 pm

the guys running our league seem to think bonds will be back before magss or roco...I haven't seen a return date for bonds has anyone else?

here is a date for rocco that was supposedly a better cut than bonds, why I have no idea since roco will be back in 4wks and no eta on bonds anywhere in writing.

News

Devil Rays outfielder Rocco Baldelli's rehab from knee surgery is progressing on-schedule and he is hitting against live pitching during simulated extended spring training games, reports MLB.com. He plans to DH in actual games soon and will start playing in the outfield around July 1.

Anyone having bonds back before july 1? Didn't think so....slacker brothers got hosed.

But why cut bonds when you can cut michael tucker. If he had no one to cut , but he did , hell i would also cut magglio before bonds.I AGREE it should have been left , but bonds before tucker who doesnt play or do anything, i dont get. IT has shaken this league up, theirs been a lot of different opinons.

Bonds plans to be back at the All-Star game. Note I didn't say 'break' as he's cocky enough to think he deserves to go after doing the same amount to help his team win this year as I or you have. That date is probably wishful thinking anyway and it'd be a waste to spend his three innings--before he reinjures his knee and returns to the DL where he belongs--on an exhibition game.

Did I mention my analogy?

Did I mention my analogy? Bonds is quite a ways free of his last surgery. He's rehabbing, walking again. He did the stadium stairs a few days ago. He's beginning to resume working out. Does that put him 2-3 weeks away from ready for game-type activities? Maybe 4 weeks? That's right at the all star break... can he step right in and play or does he need 1-2 weeks rehab games? That's the bigger question.

Well, assuming BJOAK isn't correct in his junior-nostradamus work... if he gets injured again then clearly all bets are off.

All I know is my team is ahead of bjoak's and I at least have the potential of Bonds coming back ;)

I'm not uncomfortable in this position with some upside to hope for.

Corkedbats...

You show me another owner across the entire USA where a player would cut Bonds over Tucker after having him on his team since the draft...and I'll show you a fool who is tampering with the "for the good of the league" rule.

Are you his buddy or what?

Well put Sport!

Taking the Avg of 6 publications and adjusting for half a season, you get the following projections for both players:

Bonds

190 59 22 49 3 .341

Tucker

187 29 5 25 2 .256

At this stage, such a transaction does alter the balance of the competition. It's not like Tucker is a one category wonder.

Could you imagine the FAAB transaction going through and Slacker winning the comp because of the Bonds pickup? We're talking mass excides from next year's competition!

It's certainly unfortunate that this league has had to go through such an excercise, but Tom and Greg have done a good job in making the necessary changes in the rules going forward. And I'm sure there will probably be some additional adjustments before next year's competition.

Once this competition loses it's integrity, it's all over. In keeping with the 'Spirit of the Game/Competition' the right thing was done.

With over $400K in entry fees (not including auctions), Greg should absolutely err on the side of caution.

To be quite blunt, if I had to choose to **** off 1 or 299 owners, I'll **** one off every time.

This thread is comedy.

Bonds isn't going to play at all.

Coming soon on ESPN...

Barry, his son, and now his wife will appear in the stands, where he's been running the stairs again and just suffered yet another set back, further ligitimizing his "comeback" attempt.

Bonds will go on to say, "After the last spring training press conference, you guys have backed off, and my family, especially my wife (camera pans to her with her head bowed), really appreciate that you have allowed me to give full attention to my recovery. Today, we had another set back, but I promise you I will do everything to be back in September for the stretch drive."

I'll remember to post when Bonds has that first 3 HR game on July 22nd

Here is an analogy/riddle for you: Frank Thomas is to Juan Gone as Barry Bonds is to ____________.
