You could have a January, February, March, and Double Play bracket. Some player might like to do one in each group. With all the slow draft action, I think players are looking for something else. Hell one of the brackets could be a 15 team grouping and that could be a separate prize. What do you think? Shawn, this sounds dangerously close to Q School and $350 travel voucher territory
Great story. Guy turned $10 into $1 Million via QSchool.
I agree -- it sounds a lot like that but maybe we should get a few of you on the phone and discuss options to make it better moving forward.
I value all of your insight.

I'm thinking Seattle and Denver.
Any thoughts?

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

This is the NFBC's 7th season. It's not exactly new and they've been plastered all over fantasy magazines for just as long. Do you have a feel for what % of fantasy player out there that has NOT heard of the NFBC? Do you have any new ideas(other than continuing the print media)on how you tap into them and what new ways do you have in mind to get them to cross over to the "high stakes" arena? About 3 minutes ago we sent an email out to everyone in the Fanball database that resides in a 500 mile radius to Atlantic City.
We have other plans to get lots of new people in.
I'm quite amazed (and I believe Greg is as well) at just how many newbies we've gotten into NFBC main events and satellites this year.
I think that # will rise expeditiously over the next few months and especially for NFFC.
I'm not sure of the exact # but we have plenty of new guys this year that we are very excited about.

Thanks A Fantasy Sports Insurance policy for one player is available FREE to each team owner who pays by check for the NFBC Classic, the NFBC Super League, the NFBC Ultimate League and the NFBC Diamond League provided that your payment is received by the due date. This insurance policy is courtesy of the NFBC and FantasySportsInsurance.com.
Here's how Fantasy Sports Insurance (FSI) works:
Designate one player who is on your team and on the Top 100 list provided by FantasySportsInsurance.com for your insurance policy. If that player spends at least 60 days on the disabled list due to an injury in 2010, you will receive payment from FantasySportsInsurance.com for:
$250 in the NFBC Classic
$500 in the NFBC Super
$1,000 in the NFBC Ultimate
$2,000 in the NFBC Diamond
Last year if this offer had been in place for the NFBC, team owners could have cashed in their insurance policies for four players: Jose Reyes (missed 137 days), Jake Peavy (missed 131 days), Brandon Webb (missed 176 days) and Geovany Soto (missed 90 days). Other top players who also missed at least 60 days last year included Rickie Weeks (missed 140 days), Alex Gordon (missed 91 days), Kevin Slowey (missed 95 days) and Edinson Volquez (missed 125 days).
After you have selected the player who you want to insure, FSI will send out a Certificate of Insurance with details of the insurance policy and the associated coverage. Claims will be paid within 30 days of the end of the MLB regular season.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to work alongside the NFBC and Fanball to offer Fantasy Sports Insurance (FSI) for the 2010 MLB fantasy season," said Henry Olszewski, sales, executive at Fantasy Sports Insurance. "Offering FSI to NFBC participants is a fantastic opportunity for us to provide financial peace of mind against that unforeseen, season changing injury. Lessen the blow of losing your key player. Plan...Protect...Play"
NFBC team owners also will have the opportunity to purchase additional insurance for their teams’ players through FantasySportsInsurance.com if they draft more than just one injury-riddled player. For those owners, there is a policy for two players who spend a total of 90 days on the DL list and even a policy for three players who spend a total of 115 days on the DL.

I am getting older and with age, and less and less things impress me.
One thing that does impress me is how the NFBC has been run over the last seven years.
DON'T SCREW IT UP!

E HOW BOUT SOME SLEEPERS at pitching say after round 17 or 18 that might have a little value.
Last year i was able to draft De La Rosa and Happ after the 20th round. I really like Brett Anderson / Homer Bailey/ Kevin Slowey / Clay Buckholz, Sean Gallagher
Will be interesting to see where they fall in the initial ADP report - but Brett Anderson is one of my must-haves!
Positional sleepers I like Ian Stewart, Julio Borbon, Brandon Wood and Andrew McCutchen (though he's starting to go WAY too high).
Ryan-
First of all, thank you for chatting with us. I think you guys are heading in a great direction, and I for one am not able to attend the live events due to family concerns. That being said, expanding the satellite and slow draft offerings is going to be a very important avenue for you to pursue. Just looking at the increase in slow drafts this year should provide sufficient evidence that the interest is out there.
Secondly, I can answer this regarding the above player's ADP. Very few if any of those players are there in round 17 in the NFBC. I would venture to guess that none of them are.
Sorry -- I should have looked a bit deeper.
Few guys:
Jonathan Sanchez: ADP 242
Francisco Liriano: ADP 256
Kevon Correia: ADP 285
Few more:
Chris Goghlan: ADP 235
Kelly Johnson: ADP 325
Alberto Callaspo: ADP 330
I think we might have a surprise for online main events and we also might expand to a few more satellites. Stay tuned.

These four contestant are snowed in Vegas for a week. Yes..snowed in!! There is no power and none of you have any cash on hand. You have to work to survive.
Here are the four possible options: Male stripper, taxi cab driver, bouncer, and Bartender.
Male Stripper pays $2000 for the week.
Taxi Driver pays $500 plus the use of the car.
The bouncer pays $300 plus the use of the girl of your choice for a week.
The bartender job pays $800 plus all the booze you can drink.
What job is your first choice?
Which position suits each person and why?
If it came to a fight, who would fight for which job?
Will there ever be a fantasy reality show? Male Stripper: Tom -- He really needs attention.
Bar Tender: Greg -- He'd be happy with a few cold coronas.
Taxi Driver: Charlie -- He likes to tell stories and never shuts up.
Bouncer: Ryan. My wife is probably reading this thread so I have to be careful.
I don't think there would be a lot of fights. Certainly Greg and Charlie can't be a stripper. Just look at them!

I like the Double Play concept, but I'm not sure the average player wants to compete against a thousand players to win the top prize. Personally I'd like to see an overall prize plus some subdivisions. I was thinking something like this:
Overall $50,000
Double play $25,000
Then maybe three or four groups to win say a $20,000 prize. You would have to work on the numbers to make it work. Maybe you need 350 entries in each group. You could have a January, February, March, and Double Play bracket. Some player might like to do one in each group. With all the slow draft action, I think players are looking for something else. Hell one of the brackets could be a 15 team grouping and that could be a separate prize. What do you think? I love these ideas, couldn't agree more with shaun's first paragraph, and hope there is potential down the road to make some of this happen.
As for the main,
I know the large appeal of the main is the lure of the 100k, but I'd love to see it be 80k and then put the other 20k back into the leagues to offer higher league payouts. I know the payouts won't be like satellites, but would love for the league champs, 2nd, and 3rd, to see a little more profit for all of the work put into the season.
We hear this a lot and it's definitely something we'll consider as we continue to make plans on how to dominate in NFL and other sports.
