The rules on the front page state;
Electronic Equipment: Participants can use electronic equipment during the draft as long as it fits in the allotted draft spot at the table. There will be no Internet connections or electrical outlets, so participants bringing laptops will have to supply their own power. Cell phones are allowed at the draft table, but we encourage participants to use them sparingly and not in a way that interrupts the draft process. We request that users limit their usage to outgoing calls during the draft, not incoming calls, and anyone planning to remain on the phone for the entire draft needs to inform the NFBC about that ahead of time.
From that I deduct that they are not responsible for providing electric outlets and leave how you power your equipment up to you.
Whatever was posted on this message board or relayed in a private conversation is a moot point if it wasn't incorporated into the official rules. Not everyone reads this message board and not everyone talked personally to Greg or Tom. While I would like to see computers banned from the contest altogether I feel the official rules were vague enough for industrious individuals to supply their own power from wherever.
Ban all computers next year Ken, this issue here is not the use of a computer. The issue, is that I was told personally by Greg, that I could not use the outlets during the draft. I even offered the outlet to ALL of the people in my league, but Greg said sorry, NO. So, my contention, is that if you tell one owner that he/she cannot use the outlets, to be fair no owner should be allowed to use the outlet. It didn't matter to me, that I could not use the outlet, because I came armed with 4 batteries, however, I would have preferred to not have spent time looking for those batteries or lugging them around.
For everyone's edification, I used a computer and I used sheets with highlighters, etc. And, I did not slow down the draft at all. Except for two or three picks, I always knew who we would take at any given moment. And, I did not throw out any names that were already taken 2-3 rounds earlier by the adjacent owner, unlike some owners, who used "paper trails". Plus, I was able to track, based on my projections, what stats I needed to procur in any given round. That is why I use a computer.
