We can up it, but I'd rather keep the money in the NFBC event such as we give a $500 entry or $350 team 12 team event. I'm open to either way - winner take all or a second place prize.

Think of me as Price-Waterhouse.

When sending me an e-mail, I will not respond.

Simply let the next drafter know that you have made your pick through me and that it is his turn.

Also, I will not have any posts concerning this draft. Just trying to avoid any improprieties.

I'm pretty sure Greg will do the KDS for us.

I'd also would like everyone to send a check to Stats this week. I'd rather not leave any loose ends. I need to clear this through Greg first.

i know someone said they didn't think anyone would try a gimmick, ie, punting a category or two. just wanted to get this answered b4 we begin, is punting okay in this league?

As someone mentioned earlier, some of these categories could be real tight.

Still, I'm doing this more for the fun of it than actually trying to win. I think it's a great idea Shawn's come up with and should be a blast. Personally I wouldn't have voted to have any blind rounds for just that reason. Part of the fun is that this will be a public draft and to see what players everyone chooses, what year, and why. That said, I'm game for whatever format everyone else decides to go with.

Good luck everyone with this draft, I'm looking forward to it.

2 pitchers need to be relievers

Do we have any objections to any of these? If we are going to specify that 2 pitchers need to be relievers, can we have a qualifier on that?

The 2 pitchers you chose to be relievers must not have any Games Started (GS) for the season during which you use them.

Otherwise, the meaning of reliever can get a little tricky

Ex. 1960 Ernie Broglio G- 52 GS-24 GR- 28 W-21 IP-226 Is he a starter(24) or a reliever (28) ?

{Yes. This is that Ernie Broglio. Broglio came up in 1959 with the STL Cardinals and was essentially a starting pitcher for the redbirds outside of that 1960 season. During his first 6 years in the majors, all with STL, Broglio started 151 games and had a record of 70-55 with a 3.43 era. Not HoF numbers, but he was better than the league average with a 119 ERA+ during that time. Of course, the fact that he finished 3rd in the Cy Young for that 1960 is not Ernie’s real claim to “fame”.

On June 15th, 1964 Broglio was the key player for the Cubs to receive in a trade with the Cardinals. Unfortunately, Broglio struggled with the Cubs. During his 3 seasons in Chicago, his last 3 in the majors, Broglio was 7-19 with a 5.40 era.

Oh yeah. One of the players the Cubs traded to STL for Broglio, future HoF outfielder Lou Brock.

Brock for Broglio - Rated by ESPN as the number 1 worst trade deadline deal in MLB history. ESPN Worst Trades at the Deadline

See. We are learning baseball history already ;) }
Reasoning for not limiting ourselves by requiring two RPs; which I am also not sure how we define that. For example, Haren pitched and won a game as an RP this year. Another reason for 1300 innings, if one of us needs to go 4 RPs or all SPs to stay competitive, I think we should be able to do that. If it can be done with batting categories, it should also be allowed with pitching.

Not trying to be difficult, I will roll with any set of rules. But I am in favor of anything that opens the number of possibilities to win.

I am also good with a little extra $ for a second (even third place prize.

Just a friendly note -- putting your e-mail address in a forum opens it up to be spotted by bots and increases your SPAM. They look for the "@" and ".", so doing it like

todd at mastersball dot com

gets the point across and helps protect you.

I say this especially because the board seems to attract some bots.

Carry on.
