To add on to Gekko's question- If we select a multiple-position eligible player, do we need to "declare" which position he will fill when we draft him, or can he be moved as the draft proceeds? Will somebody be checking position eligibility as we draft? What happens if we goof? Like drafting Roger Bresnahan 1903 at catcher? Sorry about all the rookie questions... but hell, I'm a rookie! We are all rookies in this. I think I answered your question in the Gekko respone.
I didn't see any answer. Let me clarify the questions: For example, say I've already filled 2b/ss/mi/ut and need a ci. Best player remaining is a ss and one of my ss also qualifies at 3b. Can I move that ss to the ci slot and select the ss still available? As for the Bresnahan selection, since he only played OF, would I be stuck with him as an OF if that mistake was made, or would I be allowed a "do-over"? And please don't call me KING, I'm just a Fool.
Yes you can move your players around as long as they qualify for another position. If you draft a player and he doesn't fit your roster, you must select another player to fill the voided position. If it isn't noticed right away and other players have made selections, you cannot draft a player already selected. With it being a slow draft, I would think the time between picks would make it easy to find an error in the roster before another player was selected.
This was from the original signup thread, posted October 15th. Nice foreshadowing, huh?

Hmmm.... "doesn't fit your roster"....... could be open to interpretation when you have OF/UT spots available. Personally, I'm ok w/ the repick, but we really should have the rules defined a bit more clearly next time around, because that doesn't appear to be the intent of Shawn's response to my original question.

As for HoJo, his 1989 still might have had more value--- w/ 11 more SB and almost 30 points higher in BA... but if your biggest need is RBI, 1991 it is.

It just occurred to me that I'm the slowest drafter of the bunch, having spent more time "on the clock" than anybody else... this pains me more than I can express... if only I didn't spend so much time looking for the right baseball card for each guy...
But in an attempt to keep the party rollin:
Philip Raymond Regan (aka, the Vulture) (aka, your favorite relief pitcher's favorite relief pitcher)
1966: 14 Wins, 1.62 ERA, .934 WHIP, 21 Saves and a whopping 88 Ks in 116.2 innings of work.

Next pick had to go with one of the few guys left who has a big time batting average combined with pop.
2007 Magglio Ordonez OF
.363 AVG / 28 HR / 117 R / 139 RBI / 4 Steals

When I woke up this morning with only one player left to pick when I hit the sack last night, I was all set to take Magglio Ordonez. Typical of this draft where noone ever makes it back to me, he gets picked by that one player before me.
There were a lot of different directions I considered switching to ......(yet again). Like Ryan, I was looking at Magglio because of the plus batting average with nice power stats. None of those left with that combination of average, HR's, & RBI's. So instead, I'm going to shift to a player who will still give me a plus average, but also decent across the board stats as he's got the highest average left of any player that also provides 20/100/100/20, that average spread over 678 valuable AB's. This was the best season of a player many expected to have many more of these types of seasons. The season.....2000. That player.......
Darin Erstad 2000
BA - .355
R- 121
RBI - 100
HR - 25
SB - 28

Sent Doughboys 2 names and I should be able to check in between sessions so we won't be stalling on my account.

Well, I had a moment of clarity in a nightmare last night.... I was arranging deck chairs on the Titanic, and Shawn Childs sailed off alone, laughing, on the last lifeboat. The rest of us were toast after round 2. Really round 1, but round 2 sealed the deal. Nicely played, flawless strategy. We'll need some rule changes before we try this again.
I haven't figured out who's likely to come in second, but it ain't me. Wow, I've learned a lot from you guys, and looking back, really goofed on so many picks! Now, in an effort to not finish dead last

I've heard this type of thing from a couple of people already, and still don't think that it is at all a foregone conclusion.
As it currently stands, I see 6 or 7 teams that could easily still win this thing.
