MLB Contract Lge-MLBC/5

Here's a look at the highest spending team. Our philosophy obviously was to assemble the best team we could. We went relatively low early with Wright, McCann and Martin as our first three picks. We wouldn't normally grab two catchers so early but thought we would get a boost at that spot and fill in the rest of the team later with higher priced guys that would fall because they were so high priced. Accumulated speed from non-traditional spots to hopefully meet 160+ for the season. Just hoping not to be hit by the injury bug and make a top 3 finish to either win our money back or gain a little bit of profit. Risky strategy in a 45-man slow draft so far away from opening day but only time will tell. Here is our team:

C- McCann, Martin, Mathis

1B- D.Lee, C.Guillen

3B- Wright, Rolen

2B- Castillo, Ellis

SS- Cabrera, Renteria

OF- C.Lee, Manny, T.Hunter, Crisp, Byrnes, S.Smith, Pearce, Francisco, Duncan

UTY- Thome

SP- J.Santana, Lackey, Harang, Zambrano, J.Johnson, Wolf, McGowan, Penny, Blanton, Moyer, Eveland, Owings

RP- Capps, Hoffman, Percival, Marte, Downs, Weathers

Good luck everyone, it was fun but glad it is over.

Here's what another top-tier payroll team looks like. Let's hope that translates to a top 3 finish.

Quite uncharacteristically, I didn't draw the 14 or 15 slot, instead getting Lucky Pierre in the middle at #8. I assumed the cheap superstars would be gone by my first pick (they were) so I adopted a 'best player at any cost' strategy.

C Inge

C Y. Molina

C Flowers

C Buster Posey. Love the name.

1B Miggy Cabrera

1B Tex

1B Lars Anderson

1B Justin Smoak

2B Utley

2B Iwamura

2B M. Izturis

SS Lugo

SS Lowrie

SS M. Young

3B Aviles

3B Freese

3B P. Alvarez

3B Some of the 2B/SS guys will fit into the mix.

OF Hart

OF Damon

OF Maybin

OF Cameron

OF Snider

OF J. Guillen

OF LaPorta

OF Matthews

OF Schierholtz

SP CC Sabathia

SP Oswalt

SP Ollie Perez

SP Duchsherer

SP Carmona

SP Smoltz

SP Arroyo

SP Holland

SP Schmidt

SP Marquis (de Sade)

SP Pavano

SP Prior

SP Glavine

SP Bowden

RP Lidge

RP F. Francisco

RP F. Cordero

RP Perry

RP Dotel

Some positions dried faster than anticipated, due to the strategies employed by others. 3B will be a revolving door for me unless someone steps up and has a bust out year, but I have enough depth at each to at least keep the position filled all year.

Now I get to rest until March. And try to remember how to draft with less than 10 hours to make my pick.

Lowly Marlins for us again. To be honest, I like our chances as much as some of the Yankees. There were some very interesting strategies in this one.....hard to say who is the favorite. I think a few of the punting teams punted themselves out of a chance at cashing. Very fun drafts, but after drafting 3 of these DC's, I'm happy to have the break!

We think our team could be really good, as I'm sure all do. BTW, we hated selecting Rowand in the 31st.

C-Mike Napoli, Kurt Suzuki, Ronny Paulino

1B-Ryan Howard, Daric Barton, Ryan Shealy

2B-Howie Kendrick, Chris Getz, Juan Uribe(3B)

SS-Stephen Drew, Erick Aybar, Brent Lillibridge

3B-Mark Reynolds, Kevin Kouzmanoff

OF-Carlos Quentin, Cody Ross, Aaron Rowand, David Murphy, Josh Anderson, Jerry Owens, Marcus Thames, Chris Dickerson, Jonny Gomes, Brandon Moss, Rocco Baldelli, Willie Bloomquist

SP-Chad Billingsley, Ubaldo Jiminez, Mike Pelfrey, Jair Jurrjens, Aaron Cook, Nick Blackburn, Anthony Reyes, Wade LeBlanc, Dallas Braden, Ian Kennedy, Ryan Rowland-Smith, James McDonald

RP-Matt Lindstrom, Chris Perez, Joel Hanrahan, Joe Nelson, Matt Thornton, Carlos Villanueva, Sergio Romo

For comparison, $167 spent on above, $375 for below. Not sure which team I prefer.

C-Dioner Navarro, Kurt Suzuki, Yorvit Torrealba

1B-Ryan Howard, Adrian Gonzalez

2B-Dan Uggla, Chris Getz, Eric Young Jr.

SS-Yunel Escobar, Yuniesky Betancourt,

3B-Edwin Encarnacion, Willy Aybar, Dayan Viciedo, Jeff Larish

OF-Carlos Quentin, Adam Lind, Carlos Gomez, Cody Ross, Michael Bourn, Franklin Gutierrez, Garret Anderson, Matt LaPorta, Jonny Gomes, Willie Bloomquist, Joe Mather

SP-Jair Jurrjens, Mike Pelfrey, Andrew Sonnanstine, Mark Buehrle, Nick Blackburn, Anibal Sanchez, Cha Seung Baek, Wade LeBlanc, Anthony Reyes, Aaron Laffey, Kyle Davies, Dallas Braden, Bartolo Colon, Daniel Cabrera

RP-Heath Bell, Jonathan Broxton, Brad Ziegler, Joe Nelson, Steven Shell, Tony Pena

[/QUOTE]Patrick, I think that last number on the 10 side should read $219. Even in the half the money draft, I am disappointed that two teams beat that number. :( .........Cheapskates

How many points do you expect your team to score? Wouldn't even attempt to guess the amount of points scored by any of my teams....waste of time if you ask me. But, I do look at the other teams in the league to see where my team is compared them....so, to answer your question, our team is going to score more points than a lot of the teams.

Some teams lack power, some lack saves, some lack depth, while others were assembled without much thought. I'm sure people look at our team and think the same, but inevitably, that's why we play this game.

BTW, Eddie, I somewhat agree with you, but like a few parts from the first team a lot better than the 2nd.

Dan, you are correct, should be $219.....guess that was my anorexia acting up!

First of all I wanted to say great job by all of the particpants for moving the draft along at a good clip. While there were a few slow moments, the draft went a lot quicker than I had anticipated. Kudos to KJ for organizing this league and keeping the draft moving!

I thought some might be curious as to how the team that drafted Pujols & Arod completed the rest of the draft and I have posted the team below.

C: V.Martinez, M.Weiters, G.Laird, C.Coste, D.Ryan

1B: Pujols, P.Sandoval, P.Konerko

2B: R.Cano, A.Hill, A.Callaspo, E.German

3B: ARod, B.Wood

SS: Y.Escobar, E.Cabrera

OF: J.Bruce, C.Granderson, A.Dunn, J.Rivera, L.Scott, K.Griffey, G.Anderson, M.Joyce, E.Hinske, F.Tatis, T.Crowe

UTL: T.Hafner

SP: J.Shields, E.Volquez, J.Vazquez, J.Maine, R.Johnson, R.Harden, J.Sanchez, S.Marshall, P.Martinez, F.Garcia, A.Laffey, M.Clement, M.Bumgarner

RP: BJ Ryan, J.Zumaya, J.Samrdzija, R.Corcoran

Good Luck to everyone!

This is the best team ive seen yet and probably cost a lot .I see Puljos and Arod on the same team.

A lot of balance and starters that get k's.Would have liked 2 closers but maybe Zumaya get's saves.
