Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Feb 09, 2004 3:59 am

Jon Engstrom of Ohio has officially signed up to compete in the NFBC draft in Chicago and will be competing for the $100,000 grand prize. Welcome aboard Jon.

Also signing up to compete in the NFBC in Las Vegas is the tag team of Thomas Smith and Chris Worstell. Thomas is flying in from Pennsylvania and Chris is arriving from California. Besides competing for the $100,000 grand prize, this group along with about seven buddies will be joining us for the golf event on Friday morning. Nothing like hitting the links before a big exam!!! I'll see you guys on the driving range March 19th and best of luck in the competition.

Who's next? Keep the signups coming!!!

Charles and Peggy Gallagher of Las Vegas will join us in -- of course -- Las Vegas to compete in the NL Auction League. The husband-wife team (I'm assuming) will take on Meat Loaf and all the other competitors in the NL for the $7,500 league prize. Best of luck to all of you.

Geez, Gekko. Was that you I hit with the speargun off of St. John last week? Sorry. I'll have my crack staff start researching how to be a helpless swimmer for you in March. :D

I could be wrong here... but I don't remember Jaws chewing up any more than about half a dozen people before he was blown up.

Oh you're from NY eh Gekko, that explains your sweet personality.

Darn, I was hoping you'd be in Vegas. Guess I'll have to leave my fishing pole at home.

GG - Jake's Dilemma? Upper West Side? Hmmm, let's see what league they put us in first. I wouldn't want you to get me drunk and have me reveal my draft strategy.

I don't mean to put a bullseye on his back, but Rick Cordella will be representing RotoWorld.com in the New York NFBC draft. Welcome aboard Rick and best of luck in the shark-invested waters around the Javits Center.

Does one site shape up to be more challenging? By Greg's own admission, the waters in NYC are shark infested - not a good environment for most fish. Vegas will have several WCOFB and NFBC players. This bodes poorly. I haven't heard a lot about the windy city. Will the midwest be filled with hospitable and kind-and-friendly souls?

Where is it safe for a snake?

I don't think anyplace is safe.

Most people willing to put up this kind of money usually know better than to drop Roy Halladay to waivers  (actually happened last year)

I would think Vegas will be the toughest competition because of all the industry experts out there for the Trade Conference as well as most of those who played in last years WCOFB having a years experience. But who knows. The Vegas drafters will also be out partying all night the night before and hungover so half of them may pass out before the 10th round :D

TO Leadership Board:

I think GG is as obnoxious as all hell myself...

BUT..DO NOT refer to NY with that sarcastic wise ass "sweet personality" as being a New Yorker.

One day you'll learn what guts and pride and being an American is all about. It starts with avoiding people as shallow as you making dumb ass comments like that.

And don't bother replying with "oh, its all a joke", because the only JOKE is you my friend.

Get a LIFE you loser!

Well I had a big long tirade on here about my military career and what it really means to be an American, but I deleted it.

Al must have one of those sweet personalities as well.

Talk about not doing your part to contradict a stereotype. Afraid you blew it Al

I just wish Al was right... I wish being an American really was about 'avoiding shallow people' and 'not listening to stupid comments'

I always heard that America was EXACTLY the opposite of that... every moron has a right to be here and every stupid thing they can stutter has a right to be said.

Al's America sounds pretty cool - like Stalin Russia was cool...

Then again, I'm not from New York, so I probably have no clue what being a real American is...

I'm just one of those glorified 'Midwest Quasi-Americans' who likes to think that some of the U.S. is outside of NYC.

CrAzY tAlK!!!!

By the way, I hear it's warm in Vegas...

Four more signups last night while I was getting my beauty sleep (I need lots of it). Joining us in New York for the NFBC will be the Baltimore tag team of Joey Liner and Lee Pollak and the team comprised of New York's Laurence Edelman. Welcome aboard guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Joining us in Las Vegas for the NFBC draft will be Reno's Alan Alpers, and the California tag team of Mark Lally and Daryl Williams. Welcome to the growing NFBC family guys and best of luck in the competition.

We're a week away from pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for someone to holler "PLAY BALL!"
