There were over 150 Blanton owners in the NFBC (live events, online championship and satellites) as of early April.

Come June, there may be only one...

I remember quite a few people being somewhat high on Kazmir to start the season and I couldn't understand why. I know about the K's and the good numbers, but if you've ever watched the guy pitch, you would want to avoid. I was "all over him" 3 years ago and to a lesser extent 2 years ago, but not now, no way. Like I felt towards Baldelli, I'm hoping the Rays trade him before he loses value. They already received a nice return for V.Zambrano....why not benefit from it even more?

Even though he is young, I don't think he will ever develop the way people think. When it takes 30+ pitches to get out of the 1st inning, a player is going to have problems. He walks way to many batters and never displays control and worst of all, he lets everything bother him as he's pitching. Maybe if he had the forgetful/bulldog attitude, I might believe in him, but until then, he's only a "praying for the potential to be realized" player.
[/QUOTE]Kazmir isn't letting his slider go. I stayed away from him too on every one of my teams.

Gut feeling is that he's been playing through an injury since last year.

Joe Blanton NFBC Las Vegas League 1 Saturday, March 21st CC's Desperados $7 7 is the world's most popular lucky number - and a sure sign of someone that hopes to get lucky one time.

I'm not sure which bid I like better, Shawn's lucky $7 roll, or JohnZ's minus $1 bid. But I think they're both on the right track.

A $13 roll would be more accurate of things to come.

Gekko:

Found a pitcher you might be interested in.

As a 23 year old, he had a K/9 IP of 6.5, and a BB/9 IP of 2.1. Toss in his 3.1 K/BB ratio. Plus, he pitched more than 200 innings.

The next year, he had a 6.5 K/9IP in over 200 innings.

The next year, he had a 6.6 K/9IP in over 200 innings.

Last year, he had a 6.75 K/9 innings ratio.

Best of all, and amazingly, he's AVAILABLE in 80% of the leagues, and probably is available in your league. You might want to get him before everyone else realizes it.

also, i'd like to see a SP with AT LEAST a 7K/9. this guy is sub 7, so i'd have to look at other factors to see if i'm buying.

Would've dropped Blanton for him, fortunately my teams have been Blanton-free.

Meanwhile, the guy Oakland got out of the Blanton deal, Outman, pitches 6 innings of shutout ball and has an E.R.A. that Blanton is not familiar with.

Philly may have been Beaned.

When you're facing this lineup, you probably don't need to worry about those pesky longballs.
