All regular season games/stats should count in roto, in my opinion.

Any fantasy player who is able to stock up on FA players leading up to a potential tie-breaker game 163 isn't just trying to get an advantage but also taking a big risk.

I had 3 Texas Rangers hitters plus Joe Nathan going into the extra game Monday and rather than risk my slim lead for 1st place (12 team Online Champ Lg) I benched them all because I didn't think I could withstand a no-hitter by Price or a 4-run, 6-hit, no out appearance by Nathan. I played it safe and held on to win.

Imagine a 2nd place team trying for 1st and falling to 3rd by having a disastrous game 163.

Count them all but realize your decisions matter too unless you're team is in a DC league.

I understand that, and I'll battle your example with mine.
Tampa has a rainout and forced to play a dh on Saturday.
They have to start Odorizzi in the playoff game because their staff is now screwed up.
Odorizzi was not a thought for his owner the past Monday.
Now, he gets the bonanza of playing a daily game and putting him in the lineup.
I'm going to lose my league because Odorizzi will now be activated and get the two K's needed to pass me.
This owner gets the benefit of a daily game and knows exactly what he needs to cash.
Not fair.

During the course of a season, 'what we need' is unknown. We're all in that group.
To have the knowledge of what is needed, AND have 'the right' to adjust our lineup for it, feels icky to me.

Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

What we need IS known though. I know I need wins and K's to have a chance to cash this week. Same holds true every week of the year. We DO know what categories we need.

Maybe the Odorizzi owner grabbed him Sunday with the possibility that there could be additional games. At that point it's not pure luck he's able to use him

The monday before game 163 just becomes another data point. Same as all the others.

This is where we distinguish the FAAB leagues from the 50 rounders.
The FAAB owner may have taken Odorizzi for this reason. If there is no daily game or playoff game rule, he won't have to strategize that way. Odorizzi is not a thought and shouldn't be.
Just like those that took Molina, Soto, and other possible playoff guys.

The daily game or playoff game benefits the schmo who took Odorizzi in the 43rd round of a 50 round draft, and now finds he has hidden treasure. A treasure only because of the rule.

In a daily game you have your choice of all players. In this case you are limited to the players you have on your roster. Keep it as it is.

I didn't mean a 'daily game' in a sense of picking your own players. It's a 'daily game' in that we're not playing for the week, only for that day.

Look, I know the rule will not be changed. It's too much of an uphill battle.
I do think that the rule as is now, benefits the few and hurts the many.

Even though I fell from 1st to 2nd in a league due to the Monday game, I think it should continue to count in the NFBC. In weekly FAAB leagues, it wasn't that hard to see (a week ahead of time) there could be a playoff between a couple of teams. Astute owners could have picked up a player or two from the MLB teams in the playoff hunt.
