I was in this same league draft and can vouch that these were his first 23 picks.
One thing I can say about Mark is he has absolutely zero issue with pushing players up if he believes in them. For four seasons now, I've seen him post his Main Event teams, forfeit a round or two early to push everyone of his players up to assure getting them, get killed on the boards defending his choices, and then for the most part go out and win his leagues with that team while also finishing high in the overall standings.
He has a very different draft style than I have, but there's no doubt he's one of the best player evaluators in this contest.
The only question one should have while considering a player that Mark touts is whether he really wants that player or not. He does on occassion have a tendency to tout a player he may not always want.

Glenn,
When picking on the ends (I had 12 pick here), I'm very observant about getting caught on the back-end of a "run". The only pick I wish I could trade was the 4th round. Give me Price in the 4th and Montero in the 6th instead of Wieters and Darvish. I'd like my team a whole lot more AND THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE I WOULD HAVE DONE THAT...however, I saw Posey go early 4th and didn't want to get caught without a good catcher. Inretrospect, I got burnt here. This is the one pick I wish I could trade.

PS - Last year I got my ass smoked by selecting the same players in ALL of my big money drafts and ALL of them being bums...
Thornton, B.Anderson, Beckham, Furcal, Raburn, M.Ramirez, etc...
This year (at least with the big money leagues) the emphasis is on keeping the same draft strategy in place, but executing it with different players.

Glenn,
It will be fun to sit right by you and Wayne next week, and RT right in front of us. Can't wait...

No doubt Gates, it will be a blast. Still, I think I would have preferred just hanging out at the bar with you three rather than having to draft against you.
See you next week Bud.

I should worry way more competing against you then you should....

That team won't sniff top in three in the league, so 100K is out of the question. I also didn't believe this was his team based on his knowledge.

Hmmm...that gives me an idea. I think I need to bring a couple of flasks to the table. Getting you guys loopy may be the only chance I have!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Wayne,
If this is your strategy, I'd bring a couple more flasks to cover Oak, Schroeder, RT, and I'm sure there are names I don't recognized that will be quite competitive...

I agree with him Gekko...... If this team does succeed then I missed out on my homework.. I haven't drafted my ME team yet so I can't say much, maybe mine will look worse...

I will retract my statement that the players drafted were a reach with nearly every pick. I can say this.... The first half of the draft was actually very good, with a lot of upside and solid players.. something happened around pick 15, whether Mark lost his cheat sheet or forgot what round he was in... but nearly every player was drafted 3-4 rounds too early and he drafted too many players either hurt or in the minors or didn't have full time positions. Now, I am not sure who he took for reserves, but looking at the outfield, the back end of the pitching staff, and the closers, I would assume he filled in for those areas. Being the only person to post their ME team, I really have nothing else to go on, but being in several other leagues with Mark, I have seen extremely good teams he has drafted. You have to wonder if something happened at the end of this draft.

in all seriousness, there are plenty of ways to build a winning team. i know most "Yahoo/ESPN" owners wouldn't like waiting on pitching or waiting on OF'ers. i've never taken it to this extreme so it will be interesting to see how this turns out

Bauer "appears" to be in the minors and Quentin "appears" to be hurt, with Nicasio and Liriano coming off year long injuries, and Wiggington "appears" to be a part time player.. but what do I know.

if you are being honest, you said:
1. hurt
2. minors
3. part-time
from the list you said, i see quentin is hurt and bauer is in the minors. nicasio and liriano are both healthy (as far as i know). wiggy isn't part-time while howard is out IMO.

btw, i put on a playlist of Lynyrd Skynyrd b4 the draft started. the "good" songs (simple man, free bird, sat night special, etc) were playing for the first half of the draft and then the "less good" songs were playing for the 2nd half. maybe that was it

Didn't know any Milli Vanilli songs appeared on Lynyrd Skynyrd records.

Really not that bad at all on the offense. i looked at the hitting, Strong on BA, Runs and RBI. My projections for the offense.
Bear in mind these are just my projections and my opinion.

Scerbo, don't you worry about me or my prep, ok? you're the one that posted your 100K team and I gave you my honest opinion; now, I am not on the same playing field as you but hell, I guess that is the way it goes.

i remember one year i posted my team and everyone bashed it into the ground. i believe i came in 5th overall that year. everyone is entitled to their opinion. that's what makes this hobby so much fun. am i right? are u right? who the hell knows, but it sure is fun taking about it.
for most people, i'm sure the sticking point is the pitching and/or the outfielders? i pushed both because i thought i could get value later in the draft. in addition, i view them as the easiest positions to address on the waiver wire. in fact there are players at both positions IN THE FREE AGENT POOL RIGHT NOW that i view as "starting material" in any league. can't say that about other positions
