Comparing this guy to an American political figure is a bit ridiculous. Free speech is a part of who we are. Also is free enterprise and if I don't like what you have to say, as an employer I can deem whatever consequenses I see fit. One only needs to go back high school history to know that this guy has been a brutal dictator. It goes back to Dwight D. Eisenhower and all the failed assasination attempts we tried, culminating with the bay of pigs. He sided up with the Soviets and allowed them to store nuclear weapons on the island which led to the cuban missile crisis. Our entire country was at risk. We got to Sadaam, we got to Bin Laden, we just didn't get to this idiot when we had the chance.bjoak wrote:Hmm, so by this logic, if Bruce Bochy admitted to being a Rick Santorum supporter, he should be suspended or fired? Saying something unpopular in your community and deserving punitive action because of it should not always go together and it creates a pretty slippery slope.Hells Satans wrote:What if his opinion was that he loved that SOB Hitler because he was able to stay in power for as long as he did even though so many people hated him? Or Bin Laden pre-2011 because we had all these people looking for him but can't find him?
I realize it's a reductio ad absurdum argument, but people in public-facing positions get fired for stupid opinions all the time. This isn't a 1st Amendment issue. This is Public Relations 101.
If the Marlins still want Ozzie to coach so be it, but it's definitely within their right to punish him in any way they see fit. The people of Miami will continue to speak. They paid for the stadium and they pay the bills for that franchise. Free speech, I'm all for it. Fire the idiot with the anti-American quotes while he represents (if it was my) organization, I'm all for that to!!!
